As much as Edwards is my first choice VP pick....
I don't like the fact that the media is trumpeting him being the "crowd favorite"(at least according to polls for what they are unscientifically worth). I think it would be the same thing with any of the other popular guys in the running such as Clark (and Dean as a wayyyyy outside chance). Then if Kerry picks someone like Bayh or some other guy not exactly brimming with charisma, all the media will talk about is how dissapointing Kerry's pick was.

I can't help the tin foil hat thinking of the media somehow knowing that it won't be Edwards, and trumpeting his popularity as a way of setting up some kind of dissapointment or at least playing it out that way and deflating the energy and bump out of the vp announcement.

1. I'm starting to think it might not be Edwards - it's too smart a pick.
Kerry will do something very cautious. I fear it's gonna be Gep.

14. We are, after all, the Stupid Party, as we amply show with a vengeance
The best candidate this party's had since LBJ in '64, and we toploaded the primaries and did everything possible to run him out of town. Sigh.

(And when I say "best" and LBJ, I'm merely talking about viability at the polls.)

Hey, at least we're not the Mean Party...

2. I heard someone say
on Kaplan tonight that Kerry simply doesn't like Edwards, personally, a shame.

3. I was always pretty confident that Clinton and Gore disliked each other..
No proof. Just a gut instinct.

4. I disagree
They seemed to be very comfortable with each other, until the Lewinsky thing.

11. I did a very thorough study of Clinton-Gore when they were

just elected....They meshed pretty well but there were definately tensions. In fact, Gore had a very intense passion that was hidden even then....We're just seeing it come out now. On the other hand, Clinton was so full of Libra it was incredible...hence, his much more accessible and outgoing personality.

5. Astrologers will tell you....
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 08:32 PM by loudsue
that Kerry's and Edwards' charts don't go well together...too much built-in animosity, competition on Edwards' part and irritation.

On the other hand, Kerry's chart goes VERY well with Clark's chart, which is visible when you see them together....very strong, very resonant, very charismatic.

I think it's written in the stars!

8. Yes....and even if one doesn't bother with Astrology, the personalities of
those two together don't mesh just observing them. Edwards upbeat personality together with Kerry's more subdued, aloof, above the fray personality isn't a good fit. Edwards would "outshine" Kerry, imho.

Most Presidential candidates wouldn't want someon who could "upstage" them. I'm not an Edwards fan but realize that his "image" could hurt Kerry.

And...Loud Sue is correct that the Astrologers who have done their charts don't see this as a match...So, looking at it from the standpoint of a NC'linian as Loud Sue and I are and we know Edwards, put together with Kerry's New England "distance," it would look too disconnected. Even those who think Edwards could bring in the South, need to look at how Edwards polls in the South and what his popularity there really was.

Lots of folks didn't like him here in the South as much as those in the Northeast, West and Midwest might have just looking at his "pretty boy charm," and being taken in by his smooth talking vision of what he would propose if he had been the Democratic Nominee. Edwards is much talk and charm, but we here in NC didn't really see him put any of that into action since once he was elected Senator, he started running for President...

He's "untested." Looks and Sounds good...but scratching the surface he might be a bad match for Kerry's seriousness.

9. It's Edwards... bank on it....
He's as close to a lock as there has ever been. The DNC loves Edwards. He has shown himself to be an unbelievable speaker and a dynamic fundraiser.

This pick allows Kerry to campaign in the major cities while Edwards works the rural and downtrodden areas. The perfect mix. Kerry can talk war and Edwards can hammer away on domestic issues.

Edwards vs Cheney in the VP debate.

Need I say more?

10. not really, the same could be said about McCain
that the media is hyping up the whole mccain thingand wont shut up about it. and that when kerry announces and it's not mccain there might be a let down.

the fact is that the vp announcement will be a time when they will mostly get positive attention at first no matter who kerry picks. so how they plan the announcement and their schedules to get as much out of it will matter more.

12. I totally agree with that.
They probably think Kerry ISN'T going to pick him, and they're setting up people to be disappointed in Kerry.

It's easy to build up Edwards because it is true. People love him. He's getting a great response wherever he goes.

It's too good.

They must know Kerry won't pick him.
