Cuomo donates $2000 to Kerry

Significant, since he hasn't been very 'liberal' with his campaign donations to date.

Never donated to the Big Dawg. I wonder why...

1. He probably didn't donate to Clinton because he didn't want S.Ct nom.
to seem influenced by a donation.

Clinton did offer him a seat, but he didn't accept.

The two of them had a great deal of mutual respect, I'm sure.

Now that Cuomo's public career is probably clearly over, he probably feels like it's OK to donate.

2. ummm...are you sure?
Don't you remember that tape that Gennifer leaked to the press which had Clinton calling Cuomo a mobster. This was in '92 when Cuomo was contemplating a run.

I don't think they like each other much. Clinton tried to make good by appointing Andrew Cuomo to his cabinet, and that probably did help.

3. George Steph writes all about it in "All Too Human"
He called Cuomo to see if he'd accept if he were offered it. Cuomo couldn't decide. Whent back and forth. Clinton really wanted to make the offer.

IIRC, Andrew became the liason and said outright that his father didn't want it (Andrew REALLY wanted his father to take it). After they were under the impression that Cuomo had rejected it, they called the next person asking if that person would accept if offered, and that person said yes. Then Cuomo called back acting like the offere was still open, which put everyone in an awkward postion.

That's from memory. It could be wrong.

But Clinton definitely made the offer privately.

Clinton also made Andrew HUD director, which shows that he liked the family.
