Poll question: Do you think RFK was murdered as part of a conspiracy?
I'm pretty sure most people here at DU believe that JFK was murdered as part of a conspiracy. But how about RFK? Did Sirhan Sirhan act alone? I've heard that one of the bullets found in RFK entered at nearly point blank range, which Sirhan Sirhan could not have done. I've also read eyewitness testimony about Sirhan Sirhan being in some kind of trance, that he may have been a Manchurian Candidate created through an MK/Ultra program.

So what do you think?

1. Voted yes--don't think he was "programmed" but he was working
on behalf of someone else. Probably was told they'd get him off--hah! Or was being blackmailed.

2. Sirhan had nothing to do with it.

One of my close relatives knew him. He liked the publicity but he didn't do it. You're right about the angle being wrong. There was a supressed newsreel that I heard where the news people were talking about how the killer was going out through the kitchen. Why was it suppressed?

3. Sirhan should have waited a couple years and shot Nixon
I don't know why he felt RFK was especially pro-Zionist since it was Nixon who later airlifted massive amounts of aid to bail out Israel during Yom Kipur.

I would love to have foreign policy discussion with Sirhan.

(This assumes that he is in fact the shooter, I still suspect his bodyguard).

4. The Bush Family murdered the Kennedy Family
Historians may one day come to see that as the Julian Phase of Imperial Amerika, when the Republic was actually dead in all but name, and various factions vied to control the New Empire.

Yes, indeed, it may have been that simple.

Either way, the Bushes killed them...all. They knew after Jack that a Kennedy must NEVER be allowed to hold the reins of the nation again (or else Bushevik Treason might be revealed).

Which is why Bobby was murdered during the primaries.

And John Jr. was Wellstoned when he began mentioning to friends that he was becoming interested in National Politics.

I have no evidence for this, per se, except that I have studied Totalitarian Monsters all my life and this is what they do.

I only wished the Kennedys had shot back while there was still time.

NOTE to OHS Thugs: I am NOT advocating violence to Bunnypants* or the rest of the Imperial Family. It's too late for the Kennedys to fight back, they're dead, and we KNOW what you "Patrick Henry University/Heidelberg Nazi University" assholes want to do to us and what would give you the PERFECT EXCUSE to do it.

5. voted other
I was just shocked at first; I had voted for McCarthy earlier that day in CA and then heard RFK had been murdered.

Frankly, I was still in a state of shock over MLK's murder 6-8 weeks earlier.

Also my husband was finishing his Ph.D.in 68; since the elimination of the education deferment in the fall of 67 (at least for grad studies), he had been called up twice for a pre-induction physical. (We never did figure out why he wasn't drafted.) He was 26 at the beginning of May and no longer eligible for the draft, but the year had been a major strain.

I thought the story sounded a bit strange but really didn't think much about it.

Now, who knows???? There was certainly something fishy about JFK's death. After 12-12-00 and 9-11, I have questions about Bobby's death as well as about the death of John Jr.

6. I vote "Other"
Who really benefited from RFK's death? Nixon and the republican party. That's who.

15. Fantastic link!
Anyone with any interest in the RFK assassination should bookmark this. This conspiracy looks more complex than I originally thought. Wish I could amend my choice to other.

21. Yep. That seals the deal. The LAPD burning the door frame later
the door frame with the many holes in it, is totally bizarre.
RFK was definitely the victim of a conspiracy

13. Sorry, I tried to edit to include your choice.
I guess I ran out of time. But I'm inclined to agree with you. I think the military-industrial complex (which the BFEE heads) made sure all their bases were covered after what they went through o the JFK assassination when Oswald almost turned canary with his "I'm just a patsy" statement.

16. Yep. There was a cop (right wing extremist) behind RFK who shot him
Tbe bullet that killed Bobby was fired at point blank range from behind him. Sirhan was in front of RFK the entire time!

It's logical that the programmed Sirhan - probably determined to not be reliable as an assassin - was there to create a diversion and in the resulting confusion, the real killer was able to put a gun to RFK's head and kill him with nobody noticing in the resulting confusion.

Perfect crime.... so far anyway.

8. I don't think that it was any coincidence that
JFK,Robert, and John Junior died, and that Teddy was in an almost fatal car wreck and also an airplane crash.

Antone who actually believes that JFK, MLK and RFK were all killed by "lone gunmen" has a serious intellectual problem...

14. Let's go down the list
John F. Kennedy - murdered
Robert F. Kennedy - murdered
Martin Luther King, Jr. - murdered
Medgar Evers - mudered
Malcolm X - murdered

The common thread between all of them was their support of civil rights. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that all of them were murdered though.

I'm surprised they missed Thurgood Marshall and Earl Warren.

17. John Heinze--murdered John Tower--murdered
John Kennedy Jr. -- murdered Salem Bin Laden -- murdered
Paul Wellstone--murdered

The common therad tehre is that they all were, intheir own ways, threats to the Imperial Family.

And they met the fates of so many enemies of so many different Emperors throughout history.

I don't doubt it, but I never heard that before. Do you have a link on that info? Of course, that would be another notch for the BFEE - Dumbya's first business partner, I believe.

20. Wasn't there a journalist...
who wrote about Dumbya's fear of terrorists crashing planes into the G-8 conference in Genoa in the summer of 2001 who committed "suicide"? I think he also wrote a book about Dumbya's cocaine use. I'll try googling to get the name, but I say chalk another one up to the Bushlers.

23. Dorothy Killgallen - murdered
She was a tabloid-like journalist and got too close to the truth during the investigation of the JFK murder/conspiracy. Killgallen was not prone to depression, was a rather lively person with much to be thankful far and to look forward to, ends up dead by suicide after pressing with hard questions about the assasination.
