Is John Kerry the "doom and gloom challenger"?
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/06/16/wed/index.html

<snip>
"The truth, of course, is that Kerry, relying on the notion that voters hold a negative view of the Bush-Cheney status quo, fills the traditional role of the "gloom and doom" challenger"

It seems to me that Bush is the "doom and gloom incumbent"...

2. Well sweet buttered Christ, what are we looking at?
Largest federal deficits ever. Troops stuck in two totally unrelated, out-of-the-way places with no prospect for getting unstuck. Totally vulnerable to attack domestically. Treasury emptied into the offshore pockets of the overrich. Net job loss for the Bush administration. Country fractured by self-serving greedheads. Corporatism run amok. And a wholly clueless executive who isn't challenged by the corporate-controlled media.

Yessiree bob, it's time for more of that Reagan optimism! Those Augean Stables will be clean in no time flat.
