F911 dropped from 100s of theaters??
(Sorry if this a dupe. I did not find it in the search.)

Was watching Countdown with Olberman when I saw a promo for the Scarborough show at 10 PM ET. It said that hundreds of theaters have dropped F911, possibly because of threats and opposition from critics.

As far as I know, the number of theaters showing this in my state, NJ, has only gone up since last week - substantially. So what's the deal with the Scar? I'm not about to watch that creep, so please let me know if anyone of you have heard anything of this sort.

If one is to believe some of the things written about Joey on this board. The number of theaters showing F9/11 has gone up by two in the last two days in my state.

9. If true
That a film was dropped from theaters due to threats, I expect a full FBI investigation and subsequent arrests. Realistically, I expect no investigation whatsoever because threats against F911 are fully BushCo approved.

basically Joe Dead Intern is reading the boycott organizers' press release as 'news':

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1154736/posts

"Hi, this is Melanie Morgan - Vice Chair of Move America Forward and host of KSFO 560 AM (San Francisco) radio program "Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan Show."

I'm honored to work with my friend, Howard Kaloogian, on this important cause to rally Americans to stand united behind the men and women of the armed forces and their mission: fighting the war on terrorism around the world (including in Iraq and Afghanistan).

I've received some interesting information that I wanted to share with you about the hype you've been hearing about Michael Moore's movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" and how widespread the distribution of it will be. Don't believe the lies.

Michael Moore originally boasted that distributors had secured committments to show "Fahrenheit 9/11" in over 1,000 theaters.

Then he said about 1,000 theaters would show the film.

Then he was down to 'at least' 700 theaters would show the film.

Next it was 'at least' 500 theaters would show his propaganda.

Well, as of today when I looked up the theaters on his website I got a total of 417. It seems that the movie theater operators have gotten the message that Michael Moore's anti-American propaganda, his attacks on our troops, his misleading accounts and distortions are rejected by most Americans.

But we still need more help from you. Pick a theatre in your neighborhood that is showing Farehneit 9/11. Find the e-mail address from the list we've provided..."BLAH BLAH BLAH (you get the idea-if we don't like a movie, no one should be able to see it)

Geeeeeeez, your post is quoting from a radio station in San Francisco??????????????? KSFO?? Holy cow, I didn't know that. I thought this movement was from someplace else.

That station is just over the hill from me. I can't get it on my radio (not that I would at this point) but the hosts there used to be on KGO radio, which some of you have heard either in real time or over the internet.

Yowza, am I ever going to write a steamy letter to that chick! NOT IN MY STATE thank you very much. What's happening to California?

I tell ya, the far right wing fungus is GROWING. It's taking over the most pristine and progressive places. Before long, if it's not stopped, there will be nothing free anywhere anymore. This is aweful!

16. Yes, I heard a deriviative of Scarbrough's claim
On Clear Channels flagship station this morning. Where a news report snippet claimed that Theatres have taken the pulse of the American movie-going public and have dropped F911. Using Moore's website to count 400 odd theatres showing after they say that Moore was bragging that the initial screening would be showing at 1000 theatres.

take my hometown of charleston, wv, for instance. marquee cinemas is showinh it and has it on their website, but moore hasn't listed anything for wv yet. his list isn't quite updated and extensive enough.

so i guess we're all shocked to find out that joe dead intern and his ilk are lying on this one

18. Opposition from critics?
I assume critics of Mr. Moore's, because film critics have raved about it. Both Fox and Siskel & Roper said "everyone should see this film." S&R gave it "two thumbs way way up."

If this is perceived as a big money maker, the theater owners will tell the fake "grass rooters" to pound sand.

20. Who Cares How Many Screen...It's Eyes That Count
...and those eyes are gonna see or hear about this movie, nothing Joey or Billy or Rove or anyone can do about it. Moore's past success and millions in theater tickets, DVD sales and pay-per-view says this movie will be very available to anyone who wants it by October...and that's all that counts.

Moore over-predicted the number of screens, and who cares? I saw a commercial for it running on Lou Dobbs today...and you know it's gonna be a wait to get into the theaters to see the movie next weekend. Locally, the AMC Cinemas are not only planning to show it on their main screens, they're promoting it on all their screens. My kids looked into buying tickets in advance and the lady at the counter told them the demand to see the movie is so heavy they're not taking reservations until after the first weekend.

This noise from Bizzaro world is a "feel good" thing for the hive-dwellers. They want to believe this movie is bad and evil and no one wants to see it. I saw the same thing on the other side in the run-up to Gibson's movie. Let 'em come after it...Moore's ready and that'll be the part of the script I'll enjoy the most.

24. This morning, I called the local theaters and asked,
and they weren't sure, and asked me why. I said I wanted very much to see it, that this is America, and the idea of censorship was offensive to me. I stated that I had heard there was a group intent on pressuring theaters not to show the movie. They thanked me for my opinion. As of tonight, it is scheduled for BOTH multi-plexes in Lansing.

27. Silence the critics even if they have the 'Truth'
In the 1930's Hitler and the Nazi kept books and films from being sold or shown in order that there critics would be silenced and they could continue their fascist spin.

We are much too close to that sort or world again. If you don't remember history and act accordingly, then you are bound to repeat it.

34. Dammit! My city is not on there....
That really pisses me off! And I'd like to think that this town is one of the more progressive areas in this backasswards state. I'm calling the theatre tomorrow.

35. Oh right, of course...
The huge megaplex theatre that moved in a few years back and put all of the smaller independent theatres out of business here, and is now the city's ONLY movie theatre choice is declining to show the film. FUCKERS!

36. I'd cut them some slack
They may not be showing it opening weekend, but that doesn't mean they won't show it ever. The grand plan is for it to open on about 500 screens and then more screens will be added based on interest. This is not the kind of film that you want to open "wide" on 2000+ screens. You start small and get good word of mouth advertising. Besides, with "only" 500 screens across the country, those theaters will be PACKED opening weekend, and packed is GOOD.

If so, I'll have to travel 80 miles to see it in Asheville NC. And I will.
