32. It's been official for some time.
Besides the repugs have made stupidity, ignorance, bigotry, hypocrisy, religious posturing and delusion a kind of "trailer trash cool" for some time now.

We will see just how bad things are in November. Until then I take polling numbers with a grain of salt.

As a former repug, I know that there is no place left in the party for those that don't go all the way along with the BS. If an electoral majority of the American people, or even something close, endorses the current leadership of the republican party in the fall, the outlook for this country is most grim.

4. Yes
This poll was done during and immediately after Reagan's funeral. BTW, Rasmussen, showed a little bump for Bush last weekend, but that's gone.

24. The biggest Repuke I know told me yesterday:
"Gee Dubya is sure as hell no Reagan."

This guy and his wife worship Reagan as some kind of God -- in fact, they want to replace FDR on the dime not so much because they loved Reagan so much, but because FDR "nearly destroyed America and everything it stands for." When even they start to question soldier deaths, torture scandals, massive defecits, leaked CIA operatives, Haliburton contracts...it's getting too much even for them. The best I can hope for is that they just won't vote, a distinct possibility.

I think there's quite a few people in these polls who say they'll vote for Dubya, but won't be exactly fired up to go to the polls. Democrats this year, though, are mad as hell and we ain't gonna take it anymore.

And another thing: This poll is bullshit, plain and simple.

11. yes i know he's a whore
but he keeps track of the congress polling which gives me hope. The gop was up slightly after Rayguns death, now it wasnt up enough to beat the Dems but now the gop # has sunk back down to previous lows.

13. The question that must be asked is..
..how does the public even connect Reagan and Bush?

Is it like, "OMG, Reagan just died, and I'm sad, so when the pollster calls, I'll say I'm voting Bush! Goodie-goodie-gumdrops!"

Hmmm..

12. Just another poll using biased input. For instance, what does....
...Harris mean when they say "likely voters"? Who's being polled and from what regions? What time of day are the "likely voters" being polled? And does anyone in their right mind think that Nader is actually going to get 7% of the actual vote?

I think it's hilarious that so many DU posters get worked up by this nonsense.

18. I'm not buying these swings in the polling
This clashes with recent polls showing Kerry ahead, which clashed with the polls showing bush ahead before that.

I just don't believe that anybody who once supported the moron, after having seen the light and walked away, would sink back so easily.

Americans are not changing their minds and returning to bush.

Just don't believe it. It makes no sense.

so all the stories that had been dogging Bush were gone. It was noting more than a respite, which is now over.

I think people have been convinced we'll be washing our hands of Iraq on June 30, and will have put that country on the path toward democracy.

25. Nader now at 7%--what happens if nader goes over 10 to 12-15%?
I think that a lot of Kerry and Bush voters might start switching to Nader, especially if Nader picks a white male VP candidate, one who has some conservative credentials. May I live to see another 3rd party candidate try to take power!

28. May I Add Something Here: KERRY HASN'T CHOSEN HIS V.P. YET!!
When he does, he'll have another voice on the campaign trail, and that will help boost his chances.

As a rule, I don't pay any attention to the polls until after the debates. That's when people will make up their minds.

33. Patience...
Timing is everything, and it's too early to get excited. The Dems can play it cool as long as Bush keeps his string of at least one fuck up per day going. Come late summer, they'll start getting the message through to the undecided.

This is one of those interactive polls were you have to sign up to be polled, which means you are already a staunch Democrat or Republican. Swing voters wouldnt take the time to register. Also this from Harris.

However, history tells us that "the Presidential race is still wide open." Bush's current ratings "are better than the June ratings of recent presidents who were not re-elected (George H.W. Bush, Carter, Ford and Johnson) but worse than the June ratings of the three who were re-elected (Clinton, Reagan and Nixon)."
