Red States Egging on the Terrorists
Bush gets most of his support in places that are unlikely targets for a terrorist attack. That's where he strikes heroic poses and says, "We'll fight to the death of the last New Yorker." I'm not saying that Crawford Texas isn't worth the powder to blow it up, but terrorists can't be bothered with it.

Rural places are very strongly behind the President. Go get 'em, Dubya, they say. Bush does not do as well in places likely to be hit by terrorists. If you live in the Oklahoma hills, you'd love to see Bush threaten nuclear war. But if you live in Los Angeles or Chicago, the possibility of retaliation tempers the strategies you endorse.

SoDesuKa's Law: Hawkishness is inversely proportional to real danger.

1. But I see it differently around here...
The people in every small town around here do drills and beg Shelby for more "biohazard trailers and supplies" because they're skeered.

I think they have indeed scared everyone everywhere into thinking they, too, could be a target. Remember the "mall attack" twarted in Ohio last week? Every town has a mall.

I'm not saying they're being logical, but I do think they feel like targets.

2. We have a nuclear power plant near
us and don't feel terrorism is a threat to us. New York, Chicago, L.A., San Francisco, ports, trains and planes, chem. factories and oil refineries I believe are higher on the list.

3. SO SO true...
If you don't mind, I'm going to steal "SoDesuKa's Law" and use it next time I get in an argument with my red-state hawk dad. (I live in a very very blue city on the coast of very blue California).

I think you're dead-on with that one.

4. Everyone wants to think
that they are a target because it makes them feel important. This is true for Cities, businesses and other organizations.

6. exactly, New York is getting screwed
Because the so-called "heartland" thinks Al Queda even cares about it.

Please. It makes me sick the way these red welfare states take advantage of us hardworking blue states.

7. Nifty Hijacking of Right Wing Terminology
Red "welfare" states sponging off the hard-working blue states. Too bad it won't catch on in the red states.

I remember when Agnew was indicted, and there was talk of sending him to prison for bribery. I got to rub it in the faces of Law and Order right wingers. Send Agnew to JAIL. Ha ha, what fun.

8. Uh - oh I am sure that flipping "pollo mierda" or chicken crap will say
"Bring it on," and "We'll fight and duke it out to the death of the LAST WASHINGTONIAN" (as in WASHINGTON D.C. not as in WASHINGTON STATE) and that chickenshit asshole will fly out of harm's way and leave Washingtonians to deal with the consequences.

It's just that I indirectly knew a couple of people in Washington D.C.

10. Nah...
The same places that support him now are the same places that supported him pre-9/11. When was the last time NYC/SF/LA/Phila/DC/Chicago voted Republican?
