Ten Commandments Judge, Editorial From Tuscaloosa News
I would like to associate myself with these comments:

If the Alabama Legislature operated on courage and moral conviction, it would lose little time in drawing up articles of impeachment against Chief Justice Roy Moore.

Moore’s announcement Thursday that he will defy a federal judge’s order to remove the Ten Commandments monument that he placed in the state Judicial Building is outrageous, an impeachable offense under the 1901/sAlabama Constitution. It involves nothing less than willful neglect of duty ó in Moore’s case, the duty to uphold the law of the land.

*snip*

In his announcement Thursday, the chief justice accused Thompson of a “callous disregard for all the people of Alabama" and their tax dollars. Moore, it seems, has a callous disregard for the American judicial system.

The monument must go, and if the Legislature had the backbone, the chief justice would go along with it.

2. This could be interesting for Shrubby.
If SCOTUS takes the case, rules against Moore/Alabama, will it have to send federal marshalls in to remove the block?

6. But really, what else could he do?
He'd be damned no matter which way he went.

Even if he did manage to wiggle out of it, it would be fun to see him squirm some more.

5. Shouldn't Moore pay the five grand a day from his personal holdings?
It's not "The State of Alabama" that's doing this; it's him.

Fascinating stuff going on in your state these days. I must say your Governor brings as much goodwill to the concept of Christian charity and responsibility as its Chief Justice does ill-will to Christian intolerance and imperialism. Then there's that Attorney General, too...at least he's staying off the federal bench for the time being.

Hats off to all progressives in your neck of the woods; it's infinitely easier being a lefty in some big coastal metropolis than it is in the heartland...
