This seems to be the motto in the White House and in the Republican Party in general. If there is a power blackout, it was Canada's fault or it was Congress's fault. Afterall, the Energy Bill has been sitting in Congress and they have done nothing about it. (But let's not get into what is in the Energy Bill)
If there is a recession, it started during Clinton's term. If there is a huge deficit, it was caused by the recession and the war. (Don't mention the huge taxcuts and the lack of confidence in consumers and investors) If we don't have any jobs being created, it is because it is a "jobless" recovery.
If things aren't going well in Iraq, it's because of lack of patriotism or it's the "media's fault". If we don't get help from the UN, it is the fault of the French. If we don't get more votes than the Democrats in Florida, it is because the "liberal judges" are trying to cheat and give the election to Al Gore...etc, etc...
Now if the taxcuts don't work to stimulate the economy, it is because of the damage this "blackout" has done to the confidence of investors. There's always an excuse with the Republicans. It's an artform with them to see how ingenious they can be in blaming someone else for their obvious deficiencies. If it wasn't so tragic, it would be funny.
