I've finally surrender to the Connecticut Gnome
He may not be your kind of liberal...hell, he's not even my kind of liberal but...I find the "inevitability" of his selection by the DNC/DLC compelling and, even, seductive.

Why? Because I spent two hours this afternoon with the head of the west Texas Democratic leadership (and that is a term I use VERY loosely) and he *explained* it all to me. According to him, Gore AND Clinton are going to "get on the Lieberman train" by Christmas and "all the power of the Democratic machine will be at his disposal."

Quite an odd little picture ain't it? But, nevertheless, as I was reminded that "solidarity is everything, and it starts here, and it starts now!" I realized that as impressed as I've been with all the others and despite my current leaning toward Clark...I must become the "surrendered voter" and pledge my vote to that sweet little gnome from Connecticut, the Insurance Industry's friend: Senator Holy Joe Liberman! Henceforth, until the end of the 2004 election, the Wellstone avatar will be in storage!

(I'm serious, all the things in quotes were said to me. What a loony operation this gang is. How I miss home...)

2. I don't see that.
Gore seems to have very much distanced himself from Lieberman. I don't know about Bill Clinton, but I don't think he will join in either.

...and um...no...if there is a god....no...if there isn't a god no...by all that's holy...no.

Gore CANNOT endorse Lieberman. Lieberman has become everything we DON'T need. He's a ticket to a second Bush term. Oh, and Clinton? Clinton is going to endorse the Democrat that most loudly denounced him on the Senate floor? Yeah, this sounds like unfiltered PR flak from a Lieberman/DLC supporter. Don't think so...

7. ooops! forgot one GEM of a remark
Edited on Sun Aug-17-03 04:50 PM by wellstone_democrat
the number 2 or 3 person in this county Democratic 'leadership" also explained how GW Bush* was really "a pretty alright guy, but we *are* Democrats and so we should support Democrats!"

Please, do not suggest that ALL of us volunteer locally to work for Democratic candidates. Some of us are surrounded by lunatics with a death grip on the moribund party apparatus. The love of Holy Joe is obviously because no other announced candidate likes Bush* as much as he does (and my fine neighbors do....)

on edit: I changed the avatar to "Senator Joe!" but, the Wellstone spirit is apparently stronger as I'm showing the late great Paul Wellstone. I think this might be some sort of miracle---someone call the church for me....

10. So...now the PNACers have conquered both parties?
If that's the case...fuck'em both. However, I think the visions of Lieberman as the losing Dem candidate in 2004 are premature.

And the idea of a "surrendered voter." What a melodramatic term; like something from a Greek tragedy. It also reminds me of that "Promise Keepers" organization.

For certain Holy Joe has inspired me......to give more money to Dr. Dean.

I don't think he'll make it though. Perhaps the Democratic Party will be the populist choice for 2004.

18. I'm sorry, but: What the HELL is the matter with you?
Your friend is purely and entirely, 100% anti-democracy, anti-democratic. And he's not much of a DEMOCRAT, capital D, either.

What the HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? I'm sorry, but I just can't believe what I'm reading. Roll over and play DEAD?

Have you forgotten that the way it's SUPPOSED to work is that THE PEOPLE choose the nominee? Why are you willing to give EVEN THAT little bit up? JESUS H. CHRIST, some people are working their fannies off and sacrificing A LOT just to be able to ensure, or try to, that our votes can be counted.

And YOU'RE willing to just throw away the nomination, without a fight, on this person's word for it? Are you REALLY ready to live in a fascist state, be a good little fascist yourself?

GAWDAMIGHTY.

Look. I don't care who you support -- in fact, go support Lieberman if you want to (WANT to, not deciding to roll over and play dead). But there is ONE man (along with a lot of his supporters) who's working like crazy to release this death-grip the PNAC-loving DLC has on this party, and I will NOT let YOU take away MY hope for a revivified, REAL democracy. Nosirree.

Get a grip.

Is this how it works? Mass hypnotism or something? You go spend a couple of hours with a purported big wig in the party and you come back a 'bot, having drank the kool-aid? Snap out of it!

Otherwise, you don't need a new avatar, you need a new name. 'Cause the last thing you are is a Wellstone Democrat.

Eloriel

22. I thought "loony gang" and "I miss home"
should have clued in anyone who did get the absolutely amazed tone of the rest of it.
Christ on a biscuit (I heard that today too), I was writing about being around "Democrats" that were insane.

I also, if you noticed, did not change my atavar to "the Connecticut Gnome"----BTW, that little nickname and the use of "surrendered voter" a la the "surrendered wife" books that advocate submission were a tip-off that all the hilarious "PMers" got right off. That you, someone who works night and day on this didn't is , to me, a sign that you are working very hard and didn't catch it on a fast read.

I'm in the fight---deep in it----but my foray into local organizational politics today was a big waste of time.

at this point in time, they are not relevant.

if the MEDIA cannot be challenged

if the BushCo LIES are not exposed (to the freepers btw, we hardly need the news)

"candidates" are just masturbation

21. Ya know, it wouldn't surprise me
I still have a very, very healthy distrust of Clinton and his appointed bud, Terry McAuliff. I truly think they want Bush to have another 4 years and a bunch of repukes to fill the Congress. I think they are playing the Nadar game....they think that after that time the US will be in such a mess that the masses will rise up and scream: Give Me Hillary!!! ... it ain't gonna happen boys, it ain't gonna happen. Again, let me say that I wouldn't put it past this group, I really wouldn't. That should just about kill off any Dems who even remotely thought of voting in '04.

23. If they "get on the Lieberman train" then it's obvious they want
to drive the train right off the tracks. Lieberman excites no one and Bush will cream him.
