2. Is he a Democrat?
Last I heard he wasn't registered as a Dem. If he is, I want to know the date he registered because less than six month ago he was not a Dem. I like Clark, but I do not think Dems have to elect a General or a veteran to get their national security message out.

Personally, I would not put past the DLC of putting in a mole to show us liberal elitist activist where the exit door is.

Truman Day - Candidate Night - Saturday, September 13th

The East Tennessee Truman Day Dinner 2003 has been scheduled for
Saturday, September 13th at 7:00 pm at the new Knoxville Convention
Center. The Dinner will be preceded by a VIP reception and a cocktail
hour each scheduled for 6:00 pm in the Cumberland and Henley Street
concourses.

We have invited all the Democratic Presidential candidates to join us
for this occasion. So far we have confirmed that GENERAL WESLEY CLARK
will be joining us. Other guest will include Governor Bredesen, TDP
Chairman Randy Button, Reps. Harold Ford, Jr. and Lincoln Davis plus
many of our East Tennessee General Assembly members and other
prominent Democrats.

This "2003 Truman Day" will be an evening of politics and
entertainment. During the cocktail hour and reception the Convention
Center concourses will be filled with music and booths from the
presidential campaigns, City candidates, area clubs and interest
groups. The candidates' booths will distribute campaign materials and
sign up volunteers.

Our dinner will feature gospel and other music plus speeches from the
candidates and others. For candidates who don't attend, we will be
showing video presentations during the dinner. We hope to inspire East
Tennessee Democrats in anticipation of the 2004 campaign season.

*Tickets for the Dinner are $50 per person -- or $425 for a table of ten.
*Tickets for the VIP reception are $100 per person.
*Contact Delainia Davis at 583-0855 or Nancy Stinnette at 688-2160

Ample parking is available in five lots within one block of the
Convention Center.

but if you think that means Bush likes black people - you better catch up on your reading.

4. Has Clark himself said that he's a "DEMOCRATIC candidate" or not?
A simple and reasonable question... any simple answers?

21. read my lips - (i'm a d.e.m.o.c.r.a.t.)
i'm sick of the "read my lips" type of evidence put forward by Clark supporters. you're right it's a simple question. even a "politician" could give a simple answer to that one. cmon folks, if a candidate expects us all to be mind readers or tea-leaf diviners, that candidate is not going to be very convincing to the electorate at large.

5. Let the Clark hype begin!
The DraftClark website has spent 1/2 of 1% of what Dean has spent, yet today there are more Clark posts than Dean and Kucinich combined!

24. And that proves what?
Edited on Mon Aug-18-03 11:52 PM by TheEarthIsFlat
That some Clark posters have no etiquitte? I mean really, if a measure of your candidate's success is how frequently his supporters can post "Clark=Rove's worst nightmare" on a message board that was once a place for thoughtful opinion, then by all means, spend that other 99.5% and see where it gets you.

12. Pathetic people
It is so pathetic that I see the Dean supporters constantly bashing the Clark supporters. I actually like Clark above the others who are running but I don't go around bashing the other candidates.

Furthermore, I just read another thread where a Dean supporter said that Dean supporters don't attack people supporting other candidates and yet... Here you are!

Give it up. This is a Democracy. If you don't like who I choose to support you can just bugger off for all I care.

16. What the hell are you babbling about?
I haven't seen any Dean supporters "constantly" bashing Clark supporters. I have no problem with General Clark, what I have is a problem with rabid Clark supporters who feel the need to be abusive in their pursuit of support for Clark.

No one is "constantly" doing anything here, so please don't give me this bullshit generalizationa bout Dean supporters.

23. We all know he is a Dem
I think he is a powerful candidate for the Dem party, but there are some that continue to attack him on this site because he is not following what in their opinion is the "right way" to throw in his hat. Assume he is a Dem and look at his views and positions that can be found in the text of his speeches and interviews and then make a decision about him, his not declaring party affliation is an obvious strategy to attract the most people to listen to his message without being tagged by the media. If he gets in and does well but does not get the nomination how can it hurt the eventual nominee to have a more exposed Clark on his side and the people who have backed him, he wants to get rid of * as much as we do, and more than likely they will be the moderates and the undecided which will only help us in the general elections. So quit with the lame excuse about him not declaring. Clark can not hurt the Democratic party, his voice is a help and if he happens to win the nomination so be it, and if he doesn't welcome his supporters to the nominees camp, guarantee they will work their buts off, becuse so will Clark.

19. Sweet Mother Mayhem - I'm A'Babbling
I remember back during the 1992 elections. It was to be my very first time voting and I was all ready for Clinton. (YIPPEE - he and I share the same birthday).

Anyways, to "babble" some more, I remember my mom telling me that she signed a petition for Perot. I thought she was nuts because we're a Democrat-only family. But she took me aside and told me that this is the UNITED STATES. Anyone can run and has the right to run.

My mom sets me straight most of the time and it is for the above reason that I find the "constant" (do I really need to link to them all?) bashing of any candidate repulsive and... what's the word I'm seeking? I don't know. It's late and I'm ducking out of this thread. I don't need cyber stress from people I'll never have to tolerate in real life.

Toodles. :-)
