They say he is going to speak live now... the coffee must have sobered him up enough ... or his handlers figure he slurs his speech so much anyway that nowbody would notice if he was drunk

Bush Reaction Taped Again
Isn't it frightening that our president is incapable of reacting in person to events? Remember Friday's "delayed" reaction to the blackout?

I didn't catch the very beginning. Pure Canned *jr. , halting monotone:

on purely humanitarian mission

number have been killed
or injured

for those who suffered
extend sympathy of US people

spoke to Koffi

terrasts show contempt of innocent
fear of progress
hatred of peace
they are enemies of iraqi people

murderers who reveal themselves as enemies of civilized world

desperation of terrasts
civilized world not intimidated

iraqi people liberated
on irreversible course to self gov
UN and US will stand with iraqi people

terrasts want to return to days of torture chambers and mass graves
iraqis who want freedom must reject them

all nations face a challenge and choice
attempting to spread chaos and fear testing our will
our will cannot be shaken
we will perservere thru every hardship
bring to justice
god bless souls harmed in iraq

on edit added a couple of letters missing here and there.

39. my letter to Bush:
Put the bottle down, George. Your 'address' to the nation after the UN bombing in Iraq was a disgrace, you cannopt stop playing golf long enough to make a statement? Must every word you say be pre-written and reviewed? Three hours it took, to come up with a pre-recorded AUDIO statement?

At least with audio only, you don't have to worry about looking as drunk as you did when you finally responded to tehblackouts in the northeast. I seem to recall we had to wait awhile for that statement too, which was ALSO pre-recorded

The mayor and governor of New York BOTH spoke live, and both spoke soon after the crisis began. You could learn something from them, if you were a real man who really cared about people.

Go back to your golf game, you have an election to rig and can't be bothered with dead peasants

41. The blackout statement was PRE-RECORDED?
I was blacked out, didn't see it. What time was the statement, like 8:00 pm or so? It was pre-recorded??? What did he say? Anything? Bloomberg to his credit got on the air right away and kept talking throughout. I had radio on almost the whole time but somehow missed Chimpy's statement. I can't believe he TAPED it.

43. I don't remember the exact time it aired, but there was a long delay
--about 4 hours? sort of reminiscent of 9-11. The really bizarre thing about this is that even though it was taped, it was truly awful. People joke about his being drunk, but I can't quite believe that since he was about to be taken to a fund raiser, in San Diego I think. But he was disoriented and blathering, and his face was blotchy, his eyes seemed unfocused. If this was the best he could do even with all the time they took to tape it, it's just plain pathetic.

I'm not sure if this one is available, but some of Bush*'s speeches are made available on video at www.whitehouse.gov (maybe not this one though, if they're smart).

48. One man's take on *jr's reaction
no love lost for *jr in this article written by Bill Gallagher in Detroit during the blackout:

>snip<
"President Bush had a slow and puzzling reaction to the worst blackout in our nation's history. On a brief break from his month-long Texas vacation, he slipped off to California for a mission of supreme importance -- a fundraiser.

It took 4 1/2 hours before the president and his staff emerged from their own blackout to address the unprecedented crisis. Between a rah-rah speech to the Marines and the $1 million fundraiser, the president had scheduled "private time." That means, in White House code, video games, sports on television and a nap.

Finally speaking of the suffering, powerless people living where Bush calls "up East," he did underline the need to improve the nation's electrical grid, noting that he viewed the blackout as a "wake-up call for the need to modernize our electric delivery system."

When it comes to energy, the Bush administration consistently supports corporate over public interests.

Remember, Vice President Dick Cheney shaped our national energy policy with the help of the thieves from Enron and other corporate moguls. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham is a career politician whose singular qualification for the job was that he needed one. He was defeated in his re-election bid for the Senate in 2000 and deflected the embarrassing fact that he once voted to eliminate the energy department.

The president did call for investment in infrastructure. Now that's a real bolt of lightning.

Here's an idea. Take the money from the president's $1 trillion-plus tax cuts that largely benefit the rich with borrowed money and spend it on investments in the nation's power and other infrastructure needs."

Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 11:23 AM by SpiralHawk
Whatever is really going on for either one of these characters, they sure don't want the world to get a good look at them. The truth would be evident.

I believe it was Abraham Lincoln (R- Illinois) who observed that after the age of 40, a man's face reveals the truth of who he is.

44. I can see Wagging the Dog II
The pResident NEVER goes live - EVER. Not only are the speeches canned, but the news conferences, too, the reporters being played by retired adult film actors because nobody knows them by anything other than their double-entendre stage names. The papers the "reporters" work for are never mentioned, to avoid the New York Times (for example) saying, "hey, that guy's not on our payroll!" Smirk gets as many takes as it takes to get it right, and the "umms" are mostly edited out.

Some obscure Hollywood director (played by Al Pacino) catches on, goes public, and is pursued by Secret Service agents (the same ones responsible for keeping the porn actors quiet) for the rest of the picture. He meets an old friend who is something of a hacker, and goes over a tape of one of the news conferences with him.

"Hey, I know that broad," Mr. Hacker exclaims.

"You should," Mr. Director says, "You were in a Mr. Softee commercial with her about three years ago. She was just getting out of the porn business, and you were trying to get into television as a game show host or something. How about this one?" Mr. Director pauses the tape at a uncharacteristically clear closeup of a blonde wearing a red power suit.

"Vicky Victoria, right? Only her hair is different."

"A little more 'professional.' I think she had her nose done, too."

"Wow, how long has the President running this scam?"

"Probably since a few months after taking the oath of office. I've had Secret Service goons after me for weeks now because I know too much. I sent a copy to Senator Goldstein (1984 reference is obvious) on the Justice committee back in May, and you know what happened to him."

"He was in a car accident, right?"

"If you want to believe that. Anyway, the goons got hold of the tape and a note I wrote to Sen. Goldstein telling him what to look for. That's how they fingered me. The way I see it, there is only one thing left to do."

"CNN will never run this in a million years."

"Yes, they will. That's where you come in."

Any Hollywood types out there want to give me a greenlight?
