My letter from Sen. Feingold
Shortly after Bush’s “Bring ‘em on” speech, I wrote to my senator, Russ Feingold, about my concerns regarding Bush’s push to go to war. I thought I’d share with everyone part of his reponse.

“It appears that some of the intelligence was inaccurate or, worse, manipulated, and this raises serious questions about the government’s credibility and capacity to ensure Americans’ security. It is very important to find out whether young Americans were sent into harm’s way based, in part, on faulty intelligence.

“I also believe the issue of WMD is important because of how the rest of the world and history will understand this undertaking in Iraq. Those perceptions and judgements do affect our security and global stabilty. We cannot afford to have the world believing the United States will conjure up pretexts to wage wars and overthrow governments around the world at will.”

As I recall this was shortly before the Iraq-uranium claims were brought to the limelight to the general public. Feingold was aware at that point that the evidence may have been manipulated (I think he was being diplomatic).

Let’s keep up the fight everyone. There are good people in Congress. Write to yours and express your opinions.
