Pundits who are destroying their reps
Hey,

Schadenfreude is evil, I know, but there are a select few Bush enablers whose reputations deserve ruin so much that I will cheer when the time comes. Hitchens, Sullivan, Friedman to name three, have been so heinously wrong of late that no one should ever respect a word they write in the future and no apology can cleanse the sin. As Mary McCarthy so memorably said of Lillian Hellman "every word is a lie including the a, and and the."

Anyone you feel this way about? I feel guilty for feeling it, but I look forward to seeing their names RUINED FOREVER by their sycophancy to the worst administration in US history.

2. Gotta agree with those three

Not wishing to go OT here but...

I would add to the list a series of journalists who need any credentials they had (what a joke) revoked:

Tom Brokaw
Paula Zahn
Aaron Brown
Tim Russert
Candace Crowley
Faux News in toto

Having seen them in action regarding foreign affairs, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the last few years--they disgust me. They are part of the problem that needs to be addressed in this country.

Yes-- I'm sure folks can come up w/ more, based solely on the 2000 Election "coverage"--it's just these are the most heinous.

Luckily Rick Sanchez is apparently no longer with MSNBC...

As for pundits though--Hitchens Sullivan and Friedman are at the top of the list--vile waste of education the lot of them

3. They are victims of "magical thinking" and groupthink
They believe that if they repeat their desires long enough and loud enough and surround themselves with people who also believe magically, that reality will be converted into their dream.

Unfortunately, they forgot that the 6 billion people in the world have a say in how this works. They also have guns and bombs and don't like being invaded.

They won't ever wake up from their fantasies. They are certifiable. They need to be removed from power before they destroy what's left of peace in the world.

Okay he's a comedian not a pundit but as Arianna Huffington said on the last "Real Time With Bill Maher". "He used to be funny".

7. You got to put Sullivan at the top of the list
Sullivan acts just like the typical enabling beaten spouse. TIme and time again, that fool kisses GOP ass, the the GOP turns around and beats him down again and again. The GOP has made it clear that there is no place in their party for gays or lesbians, yet Andy keeps going back for more. He must be mentally imbalanced!

9. Drudge belongs on there
but Hitchens has to be the worst hypocrite sell-out of them all. Tracing Hitchens Clinton bashing to his new found neo-con fascist stance, is evidence of a planned "neo-con power grab" as far as im concerned.

13. Nachman
Yes, good old Nachman is general manager for cnbc and his
checks are signed by General Electric. I expect he's the
guy who does all the hiring, you know, the entire right wing
group at their station. I had to snicker when Michael Moore
mentioned GE today on the show.

It's ironic that Kurtz is host of the weekly CNN "news watchdog" program "Reliable Sources."

14. Can we reasonably expect pundit heads to roll?
Hey,

Having started a thread so late at night, I'm pleased to see so many responses and hope a morning kick will revive it.

Everyone agrees that the three named miscreants and several others deserve endless infamy for their Bush sycophancy. What I wonder is if it can be reasonably expected. Somehow I think most of the TV enablers like Kurtz and Tweety will rewrite history and pretend innocence and get away with it. But Hitchens and Sullivan are damaged goods and have gone way beyond the Rubicon.

20. The biggest fall by far
You're so right, this one actually had a rep to lose unlike say Carlson. My notion is that the ones known primarily for writing will suffer more than the talkers, because their crimes are so indelibly recorded. What Tweety and Cokie say on TV or radio drifts off into the ether. What Woodward publishes in book form is massive and undeniable evidence of how far he has fallen.

16. Cokie Roberts: "The Whore of the Potomoc"
I think ABC canned her for general lameness. Her NPR segments have become more truthful of late. I sent NPR Mourning Edition and my local NPR affiliate stations a scathing email about her whoring for the White House about six weeks ago. Maybe that changed her.

17. Zolok sez...
the mark of a true modern political pundit is the ability to be wrong-laughably so on a daily basis sans any reproof or damage to said reputations.
If anyone totaled up George Will's list of failed predictions, dopey forcasts and naive' nonsense the stack would pierce the ceiling tiles.
No these jack-offs prosper because they languish in DC where the first rule of pundit kultur is mutual validation and admiration no matter how venal, retarded and vengeful someone may be.
