Davis Says GOP Trying to 'Steal' Election
It's about time a high profie Democrat comes out and calls the Republicans for what they are trying to do in plain simpe terms "stealing". Now if we can only get The Presidiantial candidates to do the same.

"LOS ANGELES - Gov. Gray Davis called the recall effort part of a wider effort to "steal elections Republicans cannot win," evoking the impeachment of former President Clinton and Florida's 2000 presidential election fiasco."

1. I thought it was a powerful speech but a risky strategy
Davis is relying on raw numbers to try to save his office. He's written off every Republican in the state and any independent who doesn't buy the VRWC, and hoping enough Democrats and independents do.

2. Davis can serve the purpose of educating the electorate, even if he loses
I don't think the public has any idea how flawed and fraudulent voting has become: the Clinton impeachment, Florida 2000 (& Tennesee!), black box voting, Texas redistricting.

Davis is getting the word out, at least.

3. Agreed.
The citizens need to know that the repubs are systematically attempting to over turn past and manipulate future elections without regard to the wishes of the people or the rule of law.

4. I agree with you...
"Davis is getting the word out, at least." until all Democratic candidates keep singing his words to the the American people on television, on radio and in the newspapers, it's not going to do any good. Just talking about it in partisan forums, is just like singing to the choir.

8. Nonsense. He's got a huge megaphone
The spotlight is on California and the recall. When Davis talks now, the media is reporting it and people are paying attention. It's not just preaching to the choir, it's reaching the whole country...

5. Davis will fight hard
It's not risky for him at this point because polls show he's going to lose.

Once he's already expected to lose, then he's got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

If this strategy works, he might be able to hold onto the office he was elected to. If it doesn't save him, it will damage Republicans and Bush.

Either way, Davis is making the best of a bad situation.

6. He is absolutely correct.
They are trying to steal the election. Democrats should be outraged! It is even worse than the 2000 election in my opinion.

He also pointed out other aveneus that the repukes are using such as the Texas redistricting......

This can be stopped if the voting boxes are not rigged. I hope every democrat, or all voters for that matter who reside in California just vote NO. It affects everyone.

I hope people do their homework. Cruz is an opportunist as he won't back up the the will of the voters. His credibility has been damaged by entering the race.

7. Bring It On Guv!
It's about time somebody started telling the truth about these folks. I'm just sorry that the good people of California and their duly-elected governor are next on the list.

To all my former progressive, liberal, compassionate neighbors, I am with you in spirit. They can take my country and my vote when they pry it from my cold hands.

Godspeed.

9. I think this is the only strategy with any hope of winning for Davis.
This is an off-year and off-month election, which means LOW TURNOUT. In other words: The people who will make it to the polls will be the die-hards on either side.

Davis's rhetoric seems calculated to appeal to the die-hards. This is the liberal red meat. It's not a foolproof strategy, but I think it's the only strategy with any hope of winning.

10. A strategy he should have been using from the begining,
and the so-called Democratic Party should have been right there with him.

Buncha punks...including cruz and his ilk.
