6. Long said it, but it wasn't really prophetic
Thre was already a fascist movement in America at the time. It was called "The Friends of Germany" and then later "The German-American Bund." They were devoted to Hitler, but waved the hell out of the American flag and made a big deal out of patriatism towards America.

5. very famous Long quote and better than just that snip
something along the lines of it NOT coming in brown shirts and jack-boots but in the flag.

Thurmond wouldn't have ever said it because he was the sort Long was talking about: busy wrapping revolting ideas in the flag.
