More from Imus this AM...Harold Ford, "Things aren't that bad in Iraq"
Now, if I truly believed that there was NOTHING political in Bushwas war, then I wouldn't have a problem with that statement, the problem is that we all know that Rove is pulling the strings on the war in Iraq. If he weren't...we wouldn't be there...there was NO reason to preemptively attack Iraq.

This is really a black mark on Fords record as far as I'm concerned. I had high hopes that he would "someday" run for President. If he is too stupid to realize that the whole fiasco known as the Iraq War is really politics, then he's not deserving of respect.

If he did realize that it was politics, then I hope that he'd be smart enough to not agree with the administration...even if they said the sky was blue.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that we have to dismantle the DLC. They are absolutely destroying our party.

4. Harold Ford is a DLC Democrat !

DLC Democrat = Moderate Republican.

I have seen Harold Ford interviewed many times, I would call him a black Lieberman.

8. I don't think so jiacinto
Did you see the interview? I believe that my comments are reflective of what he had to say. I would welcome a second opinion, if you saw the interview...as I stated before, I really had a lot of respect for Ford, but this interview blew my mind.

3. On FOX, the caption below Harold Ford said something like
"Delegation departed Iraq early." Sort of belies his words.

5. I Feel Like I'm Watching A Rerun Of American Bandstand
The hits just keep on coming.

First, we purged the conservatives from the Democratic party

Then we purged the moderates from the Democratic party

Then we purged the traditional liberals from the Democratic party

And then there was no one left but me.

7. When do you think conservatives were purged from the party?
I'm afraid I have no recollection of that. Nor of moderates being purged, for that matter.

(No argument about liberals being purged -- that part's clear enough.)

23. Hmm, I can assure there are plenty of Democratic Conservatives
here where I leave in East Tennessee. God-fearing, gun-toting, tax-avoiding, racist, conservative Democrats.

What the heck, they vote for the Democratic candidate so I try not to complain too much.

10. Ford kept a low profile after trashing Pelosi when he lost to her in the
race for house minority leader. Now he is back tap dancing for the powers that be.

11. I am really disappointed in Harold Ford
If that is what he said. I have really been all for him and like someone said-I hoped he would run for president someday. I could kind of understand his vote at the beginning of the war but anyone who can say that things aren't so bad in Iraq is crazy as hell or falling in line with the administration.

I can't imagine a weaker, more shrill minority leader. She's an embarassment.

12. I've seen IMUS on his TV show
what's up with that dead cowboy motif? It's very gaudy. Plus Mr. Imus has a very annoying voice. And all those suckups around him - don't even get me started.

14. Ford is always touted as the "up-and-coming " Democrat...
or the "up-and-coming" Black Democrat.

EVERY TIME he opens his mouth, I am disappointed. I MUCH prefer the rest of the Black Caucus. He is the ONLY ONE to consistently favor Republican policies!!

18. The truth?
Of course that would mean that Kerry, Lieberman, Gephardt and Edwards would have to tell the truth too. Maybe you're right, we should expect to see the lies continue.

Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 09:45 PM by Redleg
but he does need to appeal to his constituents, many of whom are not real lefties like most of us here at DU.

When will Democrats learn not to publicly compliment or agree with Bush?

25. Disappointing, true.
I don't know his district's demographics, but many southern black officials need white votes to get and stay in office. Sometimes that can lead to overmoderation, I guess. Too bad if so, since I kinda liked his earlier potential.
