Harris Poll: Opinions shifting on Iraq war lies
Edited on Fri Aug-22-03 03:25 PM by HFishbine
Lots of interesting questions. Worth a click to see them all. Here's one:

"Do you believe that what we were told by the government before the Iraq war about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and Iraq's links to al Qaeda, the terrorist organization, was generally accurate or inaccurate?" (+/- 3%)

8/03
-------
Accurate: 47%
Innacurate: 45%
Not sure: 8%

6/03
-------
Accurate: 55%
Innacurate: 36%
Not sure: 10%

1. Nope! Opinion is STILL in the Chimp's Corner
I can't cut and paste the damn stuff correctly so you'll have to go look for yourself. Especially look at the answers to these questions:

Do you believe clear evidence that Iraq was supporting al Qaeda has been found in Iraq, or not?

Do you believe that clear evidence of weapons of mass destruction has been found in Iraq, or not?

Do you believe that the U.S. government deliberately exaggerated the reports of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to increase support for war, or do you think it tried to present the information accurately?

Do you think removing Saddam Hussein from power was worth the loss of American life and other costs of attacking Iraq, or not?

From what you have seen or heard, is the United States in control of events taking place in Iraq, or are the events in Iraq out of U.S. control?

The answers to ALL of the above questions come down firmly on the side of darkness, evil, and carnage. The fucking sheeple STILL don't get it! Our country is populated with bad, bad, evil people who are more than willing to sacrifice their kids and the kids of others for the neocon utopia. Bah! A pox on all of them. I hope they suffer like they've made others suffer. Bastards all!!!!!

Not all are "firmly" on the side of Bush. Percentage who believe clear evidence of WMDs has been found in Iraq has gone from 35% in June to 27% in August.

More importantly, look at the trends. Polls are much better at indicating shifting trends in opinion than measuring actual opinion at the moment. In that regard, opinion is trending away from belief in the Bush lies. (There is one notable exception though, people remain stuck, at 50%, in their belief that Iraq was supporting al Qaeda.)

3. My interpretation: Chimpy is losing support for his bullshit
All the "not sure" people from June all went to inaccurate, and now 8% of the June accurates aren't so sure.
