We're losing the war in Afghanistan, too
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2003/08/21/afghanwar/index.html

A human rights worker reports from the other front in the U.S. war on terror, where warlords reign supreme, music is once again banned, journalists hide from gunmen, and even the streets of Kabul are filled with fear.

2. And hey...it only took us 2 years to screw up in afghanistan
as badly as it took the USSR 10 years to accomplish! Good job BFEE! It's not as if they were told a million times that Afghanistan would be impossible to do a proper job of nation building in (especially when you abandon the job halfway through because the pipeline you were negotiating with the taliban for turns out to be a pipe dream (pun intended).

5. i watched the program where
the national geo. went back to afganistan to find the the woman who was on the cover of the magazine. remember the young girl with the eyes?? i was struck by the fact that the country is a hundred years behind the rest of the world... it is as if time itself reached and pulled them back a hundred years. they found the woman and she still had those eyes but they were weathered by the unrelenting hardships. hardships we in the west will never experience....

6. For months now, we have only had control of
Kabul, and been farming out "security" in rural areas to warlords. Drug production has gone up, and I would not be surprised to hear of Karzai's demise, esp since we stirred up the hornets nest by invading Iraq.

8. They just blew up Karzai's brothers house
last week. 80 - 100 Police officers were killed in another incident. And a US Navy Seal was killed today.

Of course, now that Bu$hCo is sitting on Iraqi light sweet crude, we don't need no stinking pipeline. Hasta la vista.
