Lieberman calls Dean "unelectable"
Tkae a look at this piece from the Washington Post via Yahoo. Lieberman defends his "centrist" leaning stance. Calling Howard Dean "unelectable" and being unapologetic about supporting the invasion on Iraq. He also goes after John Kerry for being ambivalent on the war.

This guy is really in a dream world. He still thinks he will win!

Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 01:22 AM by Ein
Thats the end of the conversation. He isn't liberal at all.

Dean is at least a quarter liberal, and the Democratic party is the supposed liberal party, so why the fuck would he win.

If his mindset is true and the vast majority is centrist, than I am an extreme radical. Far Right Wing admin, well we need a fucking left wing gov't.

5. Joe's campaign is backfiring.
What is sad is that he doesn't see it. The main reason Faux News and the rest of the loony right like Holy Joe because they believe Joe is dividing up the Democrats and they want him to expose the Demos weaknesses particularly on defense. He really should just call it a day!

He is a Republican operative. He is there to basically "neutralize" the Democrats. What is sad is that he is allowed to get away with it. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a closeted Bush supporter. He wants Bush to win.

18. I think it's even worse than that. I think...
that at some very well-timed point during the general election campaign, Joe will very publicly and voceriferously switch parties and campaign for w.

17. I like what Harry Truman once said....
he said that if you have two candidates one a Republican and a Democrat pretending to be a Republican, a voter will choose a Republican everytime. Lieberman proves that arguement.

...the Republican is the incumbent. Even if Lieberman was a clone of Bush*, Bush* would still have that advantage and win.

Had not heard this Truman quote before, but old Harry was right. Lieberman is a repuke wearing the clothes of a Democrat like so many others in the party!

19. The other eight candidates ought to vote on whether Joe is electable
and announce their votes on Joe's electability at the next debate.

Let him see what it feels like to be told by another Democrat that he is unelectable.

If Joe wants to show what a god damn good democrat he is he ought to be out there SCREAMING that Bush is an extremist right-winger !!
He ought to be tellng the country that Bush WASN't elected by a majority of the people and that he is STILL unelectable, no mattter which candidate the Democratic Party runs.

Why can't Joe be a team player ? Or is he really on our team?

29. What if Lieberman wins the nomination?
Holy Joe's strategy could work. He is following the Edwards strategy:

Lieberman's advisers see a clear if complicated path to victory. They are banking on a third-place or better finish in New Hampshire to wash out what they anticipate will be a poorer showing in Iowa, where Dean and Gephardt are running strong. They see the senator making his big move on Feb. 3, when the fight moves to more conservative territory in the South and out West. By that point, the field will be narrowed, and voters will take a closer look at which candidate is best positioned to win a matchup with Bush, a top adviser said.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/washpost/20030819/pl_washpost/a11748_2003aug18

Dean and Kerry could stumble. Many a leading candidate has seen his campaign come to an untimely end by virtue of a single faux paus. If something like this were to happen in the middle of the primary season, the party could find itself having to choose between a bona fide liberal like Dennis Kucinich, and the only remaining "centrist" Joe Liberman. I don't foresee any of the Kucinich supporters joining Holy Joe in singing Kumbaya.

24. Holy Joe damaged Gore in 2000.
If Gore would have picked John Kerry instead of Lieberman, his numbers would have been bigger and Florida would have been a minor issue. Plain and simple.

When you see Holy Joe attacking Kerry for waffling, I can't help but laugh at the capacity for this small bitter man to make enemies of Democrats across the political spectrum.
