Back when the recall thing first started, I responded to a DU poll about whether the Democrats should run someone in addition to Davis. I said they should and compared the strategic decision to "pleading in the alternative" in a court. I was definitely in the minority on that DU poll.

The linked article makes me feel a bit vindicated. (Hopefully, I will be more vindicated on Oct 8)

2. Just because someone signed a petition does not mean they will vote...
All the signatures that were gotten by the paid petitioners were probably easy sells. Especially since the petitioner was getting $1 or $2 dollars for each signature. Obviously some of them got pretty good at their trade. But how many of those people that went to the malls will go to the polls? I think the Repub Party has vastly over-estimated the significance of their polls and their petition. And they will pay a dear price. We should all encourage all the Republicans to get out and let Arnold run on his own. Because once enough information comes out on him, one of the "conservatives" will be ready to pick up the nomination. We should encourage them to withdraw before the shit hits the fan. Then once Arnold is destroyed as a candidate, who would they have remaining?

3. Good news for Gray Davis!

I am very against the recall (of course). That idiot that was collecting signatures that I ran into sure earned that $1.00 after done with me!

<Davis, at a San Diego news conference, noted that Democrats who are supporting Bustamante as a fallback position agree that Davis should not be removed in the Oct. 7 recall election.

"I'm very grateful for Democrats who are standing behind the central issue on this ballot," he said.

Asked how he plans to vote on the replacement portion of the recall ballot, Davis said, "I have no more wisdom to share with you on that subject."

Meanwhile, a new poll provided somewhat better news for the embattled governor than other recent ones. >

WE ARE WINNNING FOLKS! VOTE NO ON THE RECALL AND LET THESE IDIOTS WASTE ALL OF THEIR GREED LACED MONEY ON A BUNCH OF TRASH EFFORTS!

and
