So now * needs riot police for fundraisers?

"Riot control police march down the street before President Geroge W. Bush and his motorcade arrives at the home of telecommunications billionaire Craig McCaw for a $2,000-per-plate presidential reelection campaign fundraiser at the exclusive Hunts Point neighborhood..."

1. anything to make him feel important..
and to cause people to think that there really is a threat.
Not to mention it costs the cities more money, run the country farther into the ground so that no one can think about anything but where their next meal will come from.

2. Yeah, if he is so popular, why doesn't he walk the lines like Clinton ??
and shake hands and smile at everyone and kiss the pretty little plump girls? If he is so popular, what is he afraid of? Afraid he'll get mauled by his adoring fans? I don't think so...

19. Ahhh, yes, reminds me of a joke....
George Bush was walking back to the official residence from the Oval Office one winter afternoon, when he saw in the fresh snow the words "Bush Sucks" written in urine. Astounded and angered, the pResident called in the head of the FBI. "I want to know who's responsible for this abomo... abomi... this prank....IMMEDIATELY!" The FBI set out to find the perpitrator. Two days later, the Agent-In-Charge was called to the Oval office for a status report. "Sir, we found the culprit. We did a urinalysis and it turns out, sadly, that the urine belongs to a member of your Secret Service detail." "Excellent....excellent", the pResdident said, rubbing his hands together like Mr. Potter in "A Wonderful Life." "Bring him to me, IMMEDIATELY." "Yes, sir...but there is just one more thing...we did a handwriting analysis..." "Yes, yes!" Says Bush. "...well sir, it turns out that it was written by your wife."

7. How much does that cost us taxpayers?
The fact that he is using public resources to protect his sorry ass during a fundraising campaign should piss people off. The money he is raising is NOT going back to us. We should CHARGE the loser for the use of our police, fire dept., etc.

9. You know what really got my attention??
MSNBC was showing the gathered crowd when I flipped on the "news", said it was live and that they would be monitoring the situation. They kept going back---people were just standing there with their signs, etc. BUT, the point is that literally from day #1 there have been protesters gathered as Bush comes to a community--and not small groups either. But they have been absolutely ignored by the media just like all the ones at his "innaugeration" (only shown on C-Span). Why suddenly was it "cool" to show that people are objecting to him?? In addition in a short time span, they had some dipshit question like: Is it time for other nations to step up in Iraq?? They read responses and ALL of them were blasting Bush. Not one pro-Bush. My God - will it become fashionable to protest Bush from here to '04??? It may be time to really start taking to the streets wherever he appears. Wouldn't it be nice if NYC became Chicago II at the GOP convention????

34. Right. If you're planning violence, stay home.
Don't you dare come to my city hoping to start a riot.

I and hundreds of others will be there with cameras. If I see a protestor starting trouble, I'll send your picture to the cops myself.

The cops in this city died for us. They have been to enough funerals.

And so have I.

A riot would play into Bush's hands and give him an excuse to declare us uncitizens or whatever that designation was.

So I'm just going to assume anyone who suggests violence is an agent provocateur and act accordingly.

Bill Clinton was here at least twice and appeared publicly in a downtown Portland park. Sure, there were precautions, but he didn't hide. Fundraising was done separately.

Al Gore also appeared here publicly in October 2000 and spoke outside in cold weather to anyone who would come.

Bob Dole was here in 1996, and also spoke publicly. There were just a few demonstrators then, but he was very much in the open, at the Rose Quarter.

In 1992, Poppy Bush was greeted by mass protests at his appearance.

In 1988, Michael Dukakis appeared in public at a big rally on the Portland State University campus, not to be confused with the private, gated Catholic University of Portland, well away from downtown, where Bush the Minor hid with Senator Gordon Smith on Thursday last.

Whistle Ass is a chicken, and the neocons know that their agenda is so repulsive that they dare not appear in public unless the crowd is hand-picked and willing to hand over gobs of ca$h in exchange for gihugic tax cuts.

how many are democrats?

how many have friends or relatives in iraq?

what do they think of cuts in funding to police and fire depts by bush?

how many are gay?

how many have wives or parents who have lost their jobs?

how many have kids who go to schools that have had cuts in funding?
