Foes of war confront lawmakers at meeting (Denver)
I don't know if this has been posted already, but just in case...
Shows people are becoming more and more vocal against Republican war...

A town hall meeting with two congressmen at the Arvada Center for the Arts transformed into an anti-war demonstration on Saturday.
The meeting was devised as a chance for people to meet Republican Rep. Bob Beauprez and Democratic Rep. Mark Udall. Arvada is split between two congressional districts.

But the politicians encountered 200 people, picket signs in hand, demonstrating outside the center.

Inside, anti-war chants and songs filled the hall, packed with close to 300 people, who had been searched by officers in riot gear before they entered.

<snip>

"I think what we are experiencing right now is a commitment to enforce a lasting, and what I hope is just, peace," said Beauprez, who became visibly frustrated after he was silenced by the roars of the crowd.

After continued hisses to his later comments, Beauprez turned to the crowd and asked, "Does anyone want to hear this?"

"No" was the overwhelming response.

1. damned right ...
People are finally getting it. Remember what Harry Truman said: "How many times do people have to get hit on the head before they realize who's hitting them?"

2. "Tip of the Iceberg"!
" The worst is yet to come unless we try to stop this," said Frank Castro of Denver. "This war is just the tip of the iceberg, and the world doesn't support it and we don't support it. We have to keep coming out here before it gets worse."

"Udall was not free from the antipathy."

"When he said he supported the president and the troops in Iraq, some people raised their voices in disgust and others yelled, "Then bring them home!"

That sums it up for me! :kick:

Denver is my hometown!

3. Right on!
Beauprez won his place by just over a hundred votes. Then Rove came in and redistricted it to make it safe.

What a fool. He deserves to be heckled.

5. Beauprez is the ultimate party insider hack
he's almost as pointless as Wayne Dullard.

Straight party line, period, 24X7X365.
