Poll question: Do you think the "War" on Terror should be a law enforcement matter?
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 04:48 PM by JanMichael
As in special forces, InterPol, FBI, CIA, tracking, stalking, then apprehending (Or killing them in their kitchen if no other options are available) the WTC attack suspects.

I never supported invading Afganistan because I felt that the targets, if indeed they were actually there, would simply leave or hide as the most powerful military in the world approached.

Gee. That's petty much what occured, no? Look at that country now: Poppy production at all time highs; Our puppet government isn't safe even in Kabul and the country-sides are deadly; Those asshole warlords are back in business as are the Taliban.

Oh, and no Osama bin Forgotten anywhere.

9. Great visual, there!
Very appropriate.

I chose the first choice; if we have to remove a group of terrorists.

I actually agree with ixion (sp?):

I think we need to stop trying to declare war on abstractions and start trying to heal the wounds that cause 'terrorist' groups to form in the first place.

2. Keep in mind that Vietnam was a "police action"
War was never declared....just a little police action.

WTF is the difference between that and a fucking war?

3. Corrected.
I was thinking the same thing but went with the earlier title anyway.

I think people probably understood my meaning though.

4. If the real elected President were residing in the WH, I believe thatÕs
what weÕd be seeing. We, of course, would also have many friends around the world.

5. none of the above
I think we need to stop trying to declare war on abstractions and start trying to heal the wounds that cause 'terrorist' groups to form in the first place.
Just my two cents. ;-)

8. As Chomsky says, The best way to fight terrorism is to stop participating
in it.

I think I confused everyone.
Sorry, hunger pangs are blinding my brain...

I meant the first choice to be exactly the opposite of what's happened.

7. absolutely!
Just because the 9/11 terrorists were foreign didn't mean they were acting on behalf of a foreign country. In fact, they were acting on behalf of an ideology.

Who does this remind you of? Timothy McVeigh! And the military didn't invade Wisconsin, or wherever the $##^ he's from, right?

10. this is an excellent question, JanMichael
instead of focusing on particular militant groups, using law-enforcement - which seems like an obvious solution - * chose to scapegoat entire countries.

Your question needs to be brought up more often.

11. War on Terror?
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 05:08 PM by jfkennedy
In my opinion there should be no such thing as a war on terror. That’s like saying have a war on cowards. One cannot control fear and cowardice, all that the Taliban are is a bunch of cowards that have been well funded by a similar group of conservatives in America called Republicans, also cowards.

If you want to stop terrorism vote Bush out of office and vote for General Clark.

13. Bush* just wanted to blow everything up...
...so he could be King and give his friends and supporters giant govenment contracts to clean up the mess HE made.

- As everyone should know by now...'shock and awe' was unnecessary and caused death and destruction that will breed more terrorists.
