I forsee nothing but trouble for Bush in the fall
Edited on Sun Aug-24-03 08:29 PM by jeter
1) The worst economic months historically in the United States are September and October. So the recent Stock Market climb (albeit small one) will collapse and I see the market falling a couple of hundred points below 9000 again.

2) The "Road Map" is falling apart and more violence in Isreal and Palestine is almost a certainty.

3) I think more Americans will unfortunately die in Iraq. And polls are currently shifting on that issue.

4) The recall in California will come back to bite the Republicans in the ass. If Davis is recalled, and Bustemante wins. We have the best of both worlds:

i. A popular Latino Democratic governor.
ii. we can use the issue to bash Bush in the head with. Since we can use all the arguments the Republicans use against Davis on Bush.

Prediction: Bush's popularity falls below 50% by mid-September and will be in the low 40s by early October.

Then the election campaign begins.

4. Agreed.
But what will chimpy's handlers do to turn his fortunes around? To do nothing would mean that they've given up. These people strived for years to achieve power. What will they do to retain it?

Bush hit 50% just before 9/11.
And since he got such a great result the first time......

He really doesn't care how many unimportant people die. And if you don't have a million bucks, you ain't important.

9. what if they capture Saddam, find WMD and the economy picks up?
That is what Tim Russert asked today. And maybe the tooth fairy will come by, too.

10. Worried about a "terrorist attack" to boost the moron's #'s?
He needs a war or something where there are flags so that he will be seen as a "leader". Smokin' 'em out & getting them dead or alive. Protectin' 'murca's freedim.

13. Gas prices are climbing
These are the issues people understand. They don't understand growth projections and CPP reports. They understand gas prices and energy bills since they pay them.

Bye Bye Bush.

Maybe he'll be in the low 40s by mid September

14. The Blackout took many refineries out of service
That created a shortage of gasoline, now the market forces of supply and demand are at work, driving the price up during summer driving/vacation season.

16. The truth is
that the ridiculous gas prices are republican gas prices. The long unemployment lines are Republican unemployment lines, the lack of health care for all is Republican profiteering, the lies about the environment are Republican lies, as a matter of fact the entire Republican agenda is based on a pack of lies since when given the truth, anyone could see that what is good for the corps and the power elite is stealing the food from the mouths of the people .
The TRUTH IS: This travesty must end and the guilty must hang

15. Poll ratings and 'bad performance'...
...have little to do with whether GWB* will remain in office.

- George has a 'Reagan disconnect' thing going in that many of his supporters will more than likely blame his staff before they'll blame him.

- Remember that George has often said he doesn't like to get involved in details. He 'delegates' and lets others do the actual work. This puts him a couple layers away from responsibility.

- I see too many posts making the same declaration this one makes...that George can't possibly 'win' when everything is going so badly. But the GOP, DLC and the American media hasn't yet put the blame where it belongs: GWB*

- Don't underestimate the opposition.
