Autistic Boy dies during "faith healing"

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- A pastor said Saturday that church leaders were trying to heal an autistic 8-year-old boy when he inexplicably stopped breathing and died during a prayer service Friday night.

During the hourlong session, the boy's feet and hands were restrained by his mother and other church members who prayed intensely for his violent tendencies to cease, the pastor's wife said.

"He just passed away," Pastor David Hemphill said of the boy. "God is a mysterious person, and if he wants to call a life back, he does."

sick sick sick!

1. Not nice to blame God for your actions......
What a defense...as if this man should be shielded for his actions. I'll bet they scared the little boy, literally, to death. Probably had him believing he had Satan living in him.

For shame, Hemphill should at least take personal responsibility for his actions.

3. I bet they've been starving him for weeks.
My wife works in the mental health field and I pointed this story out to her earlier. It left her mumbling to herself and she had me email the link to her office. Tomorrow, she's sending it all over the country. She's just as sick as I am of people using religion as an excuse for child abuse -- just yesterday some little baby died of a simple infection that antibiotics could have easily cured. They had that story on tv with the pastor of their "church" trying to explain that they believed it was an insult to God to not have enough faith to believe he could heal people without medicine.

5. Stupid f*cks!
'He just passed away'. Right, sure. They should all be charged with negligent homicide.

6. Haynes added that the boy "did not die of natural causes."
Can you say death penalty?

10. .....
I can't explain my burning desire to curb that piece of shit. Why are people so stupid? Curing autism? Has this ever even come close to almost working in his "storefront church"?

11. If anyone read a book like "Son Rise" they would know Barry Kauffman's
"Option Method" probably no doubt is safer and more effective in remedying things like autism.
