I was invited to a Howard Dean Tea Party
I gave money and rsvp'd. I, like many of his supporters, am a political outsider. Never gave a dime before to any politician. I even have this doubt in the back of my mind whether or not he will show up. But assuming he does, and I get a handshake with the guy, what should I say? Please, give me something original. I can come up with the simple platitudes myself. I just want to get in an extra one liner that's pure DU and that he'll remember.

He knows about it, he's been told about it, but he's got to put someone on this ASAP. There's no chance for him otherwise.

7. In San Jose?
I just donated money and rsvp'ed as well.

First time I've ever donated money to a politician as well.

8. Yes, that's the one...
in San Jose. I have no idea how big it is, just to show you how naive I am about these things. I'm just a simple country lawyer.

9. I went to a Howard Dean
fundraiser here in Kansas City a couple of months ago. He's a good person. Spoke to everyone, not pretentious or full of himself. I expressed my fears that the 04 election will be stolen and he paused a bit, as if he hadn't really considered that possibility, but then said (I've forgotten the details) that he didn't really think that would happen. It didn't feel as if he was just mouthing platitudes, but really thinking about what he was saying.

Dean is also the first candidate I've ever given money to, and I've been a voter since the 72 election. So many of his donors are first timers that I think it says a great deal about his candidacy.
