locals reporting two MORE soldiers killed just now
hasn't been picked up by the nets yet, just AP confirming...

At least two US soldiers have been killed and several others wounded in separate
attacks in Iraq, according to eyewitnesses.

Locals near the town of Taji, north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, said that US
coalition troops had been injured in a roadside bomb attack there.

An eyewitness said the injured were taken from the scene by other soldiers.

In Baquba, locals also reported two US deaths in a similar roadside bomb attack.

A smouldering civilian lorry was left at the scene of the Baquba incident.

Some gathered at the scene to chant pro Saddam slogans.

Neither attack was confirmed by coalition military in Baghdad.

1. Are you surethis is a different incident?
These anouncements are (purposefully) confusing. Where were the others?

3. yes, it's very confusing
and the media's laziness in trying to clear that up is appalling...

these aren't the attacks reported on earlier today near baghdad and fallujah... these are two more that just crossed the wires... could be heresay by the locals, but ap is going with it...

4. The regime has decreed that people should not focus on casualties

The order has been given to instead emphasize that now Saddam is gone.

You should be vicariously reveling in images of the lazy splendor that characterizes the First Swinery in Crawford, TX -- and our pResident* hard at play. After all, your tax dollars are paying for his month of R and R -- so you may as well indulge your imagination of How Frikkin Fine It IS for him.*

You will feel a whole lot better if you just ignore what the BFEE is doing to the world, and how many of our soldiers are dying, and instead follow the Republican party line by using your empathy to pleasure in images of the pResident* lounging in his hammock, or furrowing his brow in iNteNse tHouGht as he scrutinizes the Parchesi board, figuring his next biG mOve.

*Possessed of a shameful AWOL record while supposedly on dury with the Texas National Guard in the 1970s. Defeated by a clear majority of patriotic and discerning American voters in the 2000 election; appointed to office by the so-called supreme court.

9. Man, so sorry to hear that
Leftchick - I swear I'm really beginning to wonder how many will really make it home - with one year tour of duties. My sincere wish is that they would all throw down their weapons and say fuck it - tell Georgie - "bring it on" - what are you going to do to us?? It would have to be better than where they are and what they are doing now.
