Bremer on Iraq "economic needs almost impossible to exaggerate"

Aug. 27 � Iraq will need �several tens of billions� of dollars from abroad in the next year to rebuild its rickety infrastructure and revive its moribund economy, and American taxpayers and foreign governments will be asked to contribute substantial sums, U.S. occupation coordinator L. Paul Bremer said yesterday.

1. Interesting from the "Pipeline" Dream PoV

I remember the neocon halcyon days of yore when the mantra of "Iraq's oil will more than pay for any costs of reconstruction" was confidently mouthed again and again by the Bush administration.

This coming direct from Bremer is probably the final nail in that piece of propaganda's coffin.
