Harrison Ford blasts US Iraq policy, "video game" films

MADRID (AFP) - At a safe distance from his homeland, veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford (news) launched a broadside at US policy on Iraq (news - web sites), his country's gun laws -- and the film industry for producing "video games" for teenagers.

I'm very disturbed about the direction American foreign policy is going," said Ford, with US post-war casualties having exceeded those during the actual conflict.


"I think something needs to be done to help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East.


"I don't think military intervention is the correct solution. I regret what we as a country have done so far," said Chicago-born Ford, 62.

However, foreign actors (especially Austrian ones) should bad-mouth the government on American soil!

Harrison Ford also said "I'm for regime change on both sides" WEEKS before Kerry said it and was subsequently ripped to pieces by the GOP.

Ford was also one of the few in the front row with a huge smile on his face during Michael Moore's rant at the Oscars.

too bad Hollywood Homicide was such a crap piece of racist trash. We actually had to leave the theater, it was so bad. I was really startled that he would do such a horrible movie with such awful racial stereotypes (not to mention a total waste of Lena Olin's presence).

... There's another way to read it, of course: That it's not safe for celebrities to criticize the U.S. government at home. There will be some price to pay if they do.

I'm not sure that's true, but that could be what the writer was intending to communicate. I kinda doubt that an AFP writer (Agence France-Presse, essentially the French version of AP or Reuters) is writing with a pro-Bush bias.

Because he is critisizing the government! However Arnie Schwartzenazi can go after the government on American soil and that's O.K!!!!

Ford isn't a guy who hangs out and gives statements particularly often. He's gotta be ticked off.

I know he'll never do it, but he's such a thoughtful man, he'd make a legendary prez. Sigh.
