More bullsh*t from Newsmax
The Headline on Newsmax.com's homepage reads,
Alabama Moves Commandments Monument
... but Monument to Homosexuals Is OK

So, did
a) Alabama's Supreme Court approve a monument at a courthouse for gays?
b) The Supreme Court approve a monument for gays?
c) Did anybody approve a monument to gays?

The answer is None of the above. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2003/8/27/142215.shtml

Apparently some homosexuals activists placed a tiny marker at a California state park in recognition of Homosexual and transgender war veterans killed in action. The state did not approve the monument, so technically nobody said "Monument to Homosexuals OK, Ten Commandments Bad" as Newsmax tries to suggest to inflame their readers.

Of course Newsmax does not pass up the opportunity to mock homosexuals. Calling the monument "Divisive", Newsmax notes that California does not have a monument celebrating heterosexual veterans. Of course they avoid the fact that while our current President avoided combat, many gays did not.

How can a "serious" news website blatantly distort like this?

1. "Serious"?
Thats the main thing here. NewsMax is not a serious news site. The fact that they're on the same level as Fox, should tell you that.

2. Yeah I had to use quotations marks there
I would have to think though that Chris Ruddy and many of the writers on that website take themselves very seriously. Yet they are clearly pandering to an audience they believe is very easy to decieve.

3. If the request for the monument has not been approved, it will be removed
So what is the problem.

Do they think I like "Reagan" Washington Airport?

But it was approved and does not involve church state separation - so I'm ok with it.

These folks at Newsmax do like to spin.

:-(

6. The problem here is this....Newsmax has "broken through"
They have regualr "correspondents" on most of our AM stations here, and they use Newsmax guys now as "fill-ins" for MSNBC vacationing "talent"..

Like Ann C, they have gone from being some fringe rightwing nutcases to being "on air" personalities.. They are bomb throwers and the uneducated drooling masses eat that stuff up..:(

They have been legitimized, just as Rush was all those years ago..

7. It's nonsense
One is a theological representation which spits in the face of seperation of church and state and the other is an acknowledgement of people who served their country....Nobody can reasonably make a comparison between the 2 on the same scale....

Unless, of course, you're a BIGOT with an axe to grind.
