Remind her that a lot of shorter men are self conscious about it and come across as less confident, and that is why it LOOKS like only tall politicians can get elected. Then point out to her that if it really was how tall a candidate is that there would be no way that Dean would be blowing Kerry out of the water by 21 points in the latest NH poll. Tell her that Dean is doing so well because he has the most confidence and energy and that's what people are attracted to. The only reason so many assume it's height is because usually the taller guys exude more confidence. That's not the case in this race, however. The alpha candidate will win, and Dean is the alpha candidate in this race.
