Today it appears that no Democrats support the Civil Rights Act of 1964, or King’s dream of a colorblind society. As evidence, consider how Democrats rejoiced after the Supreme Court voted 5-4 to uphold the University of Michigan’s law school admission policy, which discriminates against whites by raising the bar of acceptance higher for them than it is held for blacks.

If universities were intentionally making it more difficult for blacks to gain admission, then blacks, whites, Democrats and Republicans would unite as one loud voice condemning the practice. But it’s not blacks, and so Republicans stand as the lone voice of King’s dream of equal opportunity for every individual, while the voices of the Democrats are shamefully silent.

in such a case that women are and have been supported under Affirmative Action and a percentage of such women are bound to be white. So, the issue with the dimwit repubs is that their white males supporters, those who perpetrate racism and sexism in this country, are left out (NOT!) Having been around academia and academic politics a lot, I have seen white males admitted to University who couldn't have found their butts with both hands if all ten fingers were flashlights . After all, Bush was admitted to a University.
