So the right-nuts in Alabama are pissed - would this really help us?

I read an interesting bit in an article earlier:

"Some of Moore's defenders are calling on Attorney General Bill Pryor to resign and are threatening to retaliate against Pryor, Gov. Bob Riley and the justices all Republicans but one at the ballot box.

"I would never vote for any of these people ever again," said Robert Reed, pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Coden. "I hope they are never again able to hold any office."

Pryor, a Roman Catholic, and Riley, a Southern Baptist who holds weekly Bible studies in his Capitol office, found themselves in the awkward position of being at odds with Moore after endorsing installation of the 5,300-pound granite marker two years ago."

Of course, the one Repuke they will vote for will probably be Bush.

But, if the religious right is angry at the Repukes in Alabama, maybe we can send up a nutcase as a plant with the stand for the ten commandments. Run as an "independent".

The real question is: Would we really want Alabama if we can win it? (yes, every little bit helps, since Gore only needed 1 state, any state, and crybaby Bush needed Florida specifically.)

Lack of fundie support really hurt Poppy, so i would expect a major bone to be thrown their way by the White House.

he was the last Dem President to do so. Clinton didn't even carry it. BTW, lay off of Alabamians. They see this as an attack on their religous beliefs, and don't know the details behind what Moore's going to do.

If Republicans take the blame for it, all the better.

These nutjobs are the antithesis of everything most Democrats stand for. They'll bitch and moan and wail and gnash their teeth for a few weeks, then they'll go right back to bombing abortion clinics and voting Republican. They've got the brains of pithed frogs.

Alabama, it will hurt them if people from other states keep making it a national issue. State populations have different expectations and what might work in New York, may not work in Alabama.

Moore's supporters in Alabama will certainly try to make the monument a major issue in the next election. At the same time, supporters of the Scary Brady Bunch and the Violence Policy Center want to ban all handguns and all guns if possible. Either issue is enough to cause problems but both are formidable.

Remember that Senator Shelby, was elected as a Democrat and then jumped to the Republican party, is up for reelection. It is highly probable that Moore will run in the primaries against Shelby. Do you prefer Moore to Shelby?

If Democrats want to help Republicans in Alabama, then keep the spotlight on Roy Moore and Scary Brady and give them visibility on prime time news shows. Karl Rove must love Democrats like that.

I think this will cause dissension among the Republicans, which we'll help Democrats. I certainly don't think it can hurt.
