I got this e-mail from the Graham campaign with a petition to ask Bush to level with us on the Iraq war. Everybody should sign it.


Dear Citizen,

In a Hollywood-style production on May 1, George Bush swooped down on
an aircraft carrier and, brandishing his bomber jacket, declared that America was victorious in Iraq, and that hostilities had essentially ended. Today, sadly, we know that George Bush was wrong.

It is time for George Bush to admit that he misled the American people when he declared combat operations over. It is time for him to level with the American people and tell us what he is asking of us in terms of blood, sweat, toil and tears in Iraq for quite possibly the next 10 years. It is time for him to tell the American people what we are getting for the one billion dollars each week he is spending in Iraq. It is time for him to tell us how he is financing this massive undertaking other than borrowing and ballooning the deficit.

As chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I warned against the
war with Iraq last year and voted against giving the president authority
to wage it. I said war with Iraq would make America less secure, not
more secure. I said it would embolden terrorists, and severely damage
counter-terrorism alliances with other nations, giving terrorist
organizations time to regenerate. I am sad to report that the words I
spoke nearly a year ago have proven far more prescient than I would
have wished.

Join me in calling on the President to finally level with the American
people.
