WTF!?! Is this true?
Pat Robertson Claimed that the portion of the U.S. Constitution that pertains to the separation of church and state was not in the original Constitution and was forged onto it by a Communist spy sent to Washington, DC, by the Russians in the late 1920s. According to Robertson, the original framers of the Constitution were told by God that the United States was to be governed by a coalition of ministers, businessmen and property owners, and that the words "democracy" and "republic" are nowhere to be found in the original U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. <1996>

13. Well I emailed God about this....
He told me to tell everyone to be cool, Pat was a total mistake, he apologizes profusely but freaks of nature happen once in a while, and that hes working on another Ark to keep Mr. 700 Club occupied for a good amount of time.

I threw in a request that we'd really like more than 40 days without the guy, and we could really skip all the water, especially containing salt. He said not a problem.

He instructed Pat to take a small single engine plane to where the Ark is located, somewhere in the vicinity of the North Pole and Pat should then contact Santa for all remaining details.

I have to say its times like these that I appreciate the power of email......

6. They still aren't...
I find it amusing that people like Robinson would think that since its not mentioned explicitly in the constitution that the separation of church and state isn't implied. Neither God nor Christian are mentioned either, and the vague reference to "Nature's God" in the Declaration of Independence (a nonbinding document in law anyways) is Deist not Christian.

17. The Constitution is explicit.
"Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

Seems pretty clear to me.

Having Christian prayers and teaching the Christian view of a mythical creation in public schools, having public officials witnesses in trials swear to a Christian God to do their duty, having the Judeo-Christian 10 Commandments in a prominent position in a court of law, etc. etc., prohibits FREE EXERCISE OF ALL non-Christian religion.

Right out of Animal Farm. Which, by the way, I think is a book that is far underrated. It is just as important, and maybe at this point, more important than 1984.

it will be interesting to see how much time it takes between the Pat Robertson teevee proclaimation and when such BS start to appear on forums the wingnuts populate. The time differential is what's known as the freep factor.

16. And emails
The thing about Right wing asshole psychotics is that they are hoping that people will accept their demented, fucked up, hate-filled, intolerant view of the world. They need people to believe they need to feel like they are in the majority. So they lie. They lie their asses off. And they lie often.
Their best tactic?
Emails.
They have an email going around about Truman being criticized for how occupation was going in Germany.
Its a massive lie.
They have an email stating that Martin Luther King, Jr was a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a phony, and a degenerate.
This is not only a massive lie, but its also very shameful.
They have tons of emails going around about how Clinton was buddies with bin Laden, how he raped several women, how he committed murder. and the list goes on and on.

The underlying problem is that these stupid, fanatic idiots see something in an email and they take it as fact. They never ask for proof or sources (but this makes sense, after all, they believe the Bible without proof or merit).

Its amazing how many lies are considered true by so many people just because they saw it in an email.

And I have a feeling this will soon be an email.

18. It is probably true that he said it.
A good rule of thumb, though, is to never believe anything Pat Robertson says. If he says today is Saturday, check the calendar.

Really, now, does anyone buy this one:

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

Methinks, btw, the good folks at IMDB don't think very highly of Robertson either.

19. No, no, no...it wasn't a communist spy...
It was a space alien.

Yeah...that's the ticket...a space alien. The alien actually stole all the copies of the original constitution...yeah, that's it...and he replaced it with an alienized version. Yeah...and the original constitution was all about the US being a Christian nation...yeah...and that any non-Christian couldn't be a citizen...no, couldn't live in America...no, couldn't live! Yeah...that's the ticket.

he is frustrated.

Like a child who wants candy.etc, he throws himself on the floor in public and starts to cry all the while knowing some attention will be forth coming. He wants the attention so badly he risks the spanking..

Fast forward.... he risks ridicule bit uncaring for the lust of attention. What an attention whore he is.

Come, we go surfing, Panics at 4 feet.

22. You're talking abou the guy who said
at one point in the early 1990s that Christians in the U.S. were persecuted as badly as Jews in Nazi Germany. I actually had people repeating that line in all seriousness on AOL (yes, AOL was my training wheels for the Internet) discussion boards.

I'd quote them the passage from Anne Frank's diary about the restrictions that were placed on the Jews of Holland under Nazi occupation, and then I'd ask, "Has any of this happened to you or anyone you know?"

They would have to admit that no, they did not know of any such cases.

"Then Pat Robertson is either ignorant or deliberately lying to deceive you, so why do you admire him?"

Uhhhh.

26. He's just honked off because
his little prayer vigil/almighty assasination request concerning the Supreme Court came back with an answer of "Buzz off, bwah, I'm a busy Creator.".

I think he just has a need to make a Holy Proclamation occasionally so the people have to remember who he is.

Being a believing Christian myself, I find Pat and his ilk repulsive. He does NOT represent Christ and His teachings in any way, shape, or form.

32. I listen to Christian radio from time to time to see what they are doing
and this constitution meme seems to be big right now.
They had a pair of whackaloons on this morning who were pushing a new amendment which would allow the Senate to end the filibuster, which they say is "unconstitutional". Their premise is that a simple majority allows for advise and consent and without the simple majority ruling "a minority" is making the decisions for the Senate on judicial appoints. They made my gums bleed and my head hurt.

34. Somehow, I think this is an urban legend
Even Pat Robertson is intellegent enough to know that extant copies of the Constitution predate the 1920's AND communism. If this is by some feat of nature true, then Pat is either mentally ill or maniacal about turning America into a theocracy. The only piece of evidence I know of to corroborate stupid Robertson sayings is that little crap about destruction raining down on Florida for Gay Days at Disney World.

Why can't the man just spare the world of his ranty rantings and live out his life enjoying all the money he bilked out of little old ladies like my grandmother, rest her soul.
