All nine candidates should stay in.

They are each a force for getting out the Democratic message. Every one of them is exposing Bush for the lying, smirking, "better read the fine print" sleazy sales puke that he really is.

Having more candidates multiplies news coverage of Democratic ideas. I don't think any of them are hurting us or diluting election funds -- not yet anyway. Right now, these nine people are blitzing the Bushies in the media. That is fine with me.

1. I disagree in two cases.

Namely Graham and Edwards, who have campaigns stuck in the mud and will most likely face hotly contested Senate races in 2004.

I think both men should at least be upfront about what their plans are for their seats should thier presidential campaigns go nowhere.

The national exposure is not going to hurt them. If anything it probably raises their prestige should they decide to drop out later. I trust their judgement.

as a TEAM effort to rescue our country from the lying bush* cabal. I like 9 dems agains 1 repuke a lot better than 8 dems and 1 repuke against each dem candidate. Let the best man win. They need to realize (I think some may already) that a spot may be available in the winner's administration, if not in the VP slot itself. And those who don't get the nod (or don't expect to get the nod) can continue serving (or running) in their current capacity with no harm done at all.

Whether they will and for how long is the question. And despite all the sound and fury calling for candidates to drop out on DU, I'm afraid all the candidates look like they are determined to stay in until at least the first primary. The ones who will probably be in until the bitter end are Kerry, Dean, and Gephardt.
