Bush Exudes 'President Casual' (Fox Praises Presidential Testosterone)
Edited on Sun Aug-31-03 03:13 PM by khephra
"President casual (search)" has been part of the commander-in-chief's style for decades, but George W. Bush has taken it to new heights, fashionistas and image consultants say.

America's current man at the top has made public appearances wearing an Air Force-style bomber jacket, military fatigues, cowboy boots with a business suit, and jeans, jeans and more jeans, not to mention countless open shirts without a tie or jacket.

He also swaggers and frequently stays at his Texas ranch where he hosts dignitaries, holds press conferences and talks about cleaning up brush.

"He's trying not through policy but through style," said Neil Gabler, author of "Life the Movie" and a "Fox News Watch" panelist.

8. He's trying and succeeding in putting the hustle to every other wannabe
big leaguer who never made it past second string on the B football team, warm up catcher on the little league team and floor sweeper on the construction site and who is now seeking to blame on all these damn liberals who opened the floodgates to "our" sports, "our" jobs and "our country". Fucking whislte ass.

He swaggers because he's constantly having the crap scared out of him.

This is PHONY!!! The damn ranch is PHONY!

Clean up brush? Right. He follows his little map "walk 10 paces, pick up branch. Turn to camera and smirk." Sorry jerk, there's more to working than following a script.

5. Style over substance
may play well for awhile but it won't carry through for 4 years.

This style issue has just given Bush an excuse to continue being lazy and uninformed. It's just so much easier to put on a bomber jacket than it is to digest some complex foreign policy issue.

I, for one, grew tired of this very early on.

9. The Comparison To Reagan
Edited on Sun Aug-31-03 03:39 PM by JasonBerry
Bizarre article. The part about comparing the "manly" image between Bush and Reagan was interesting, but my take on that is that while disagreeing with Reagan, I never thought he was "trying" to be a man - it was obvious he WAS! Always had been! When the cameras caught him chopping wood - it was because that's just what Reagan did!

With Dubya, it's a concerted effort to portray a real-life wimp as a "man's man."

BIG difference between Reagan and Bush on testosterone count.

13. Fox: "Our Glorious Leader Can Do No Wrong"
They cheer and praise him when he castigates casual attire (American-made Levis anyone?) and requires ties in the White house. They then cheer and praise him when he dresses like the slovenly laggard he is. Fox: all spin and no principle.

14. that's some pretty controversial stuff for Fox
"does Bush take casual attire to far?"

I wonder if they had a meeting to decide whether such questioning of the President was appropriate while we're at war.
