This may sound like a stupid question, but I was just thinking about it and it would certainly make it harder to desert if you were deployed overseas and didn't have a passport. Anybody know what the standard procedure for U.S military personnel to identify themselves in a foreign country while deployed? Also, would they carry passports in a combat area?
My husband can't travel outside of his present location without a passport....though he can be here without one. It's because he's stationed here and because the SOFA allows it. We're in Germany.
