The Boycott Thread
You know what I mean, it's time to put your words in your month - take personal action and boycott the Booshie supporting economic entities.

First item - the TIME magazine.

What's your idea?

2. boycott walmart!
http://boycottwalmart.meetup.com

and for those people who need to see a plethora of reasons in writing... check out the flyer

http://www.ideamouth.com/politics/walmartflyer.pdf

sumarizes a lot of reasons why people should boycott walmart, sometimes it just helps the non-believers (in walmart boycotting of course) to see it in writing.

8. Cover of Time
Is disgusting of course, but the article reads of the discrepancies of the man and his mandates.

9. I've been boycotting all but necessary food and energy since Nov.
Edited on Sun Dec-19-04 07:51 PM by Sara Beverley
I've spread the word, tried to get others at DU to follow and encourage their familes to join the boycott. Stopped watching cable news and cable talk shows. I've already saved over $3,000 since the election. I love my boycott.

Edit: I only put $1,000 in the bank. The rest I keep in safe deposit box.

10. Time's been boring and worthless for ages.
Read some Vidal about the 'joy of Time magazine.' he really doesn't like them becaues they've always twisted interviews into whatever lie they want -- ubiquitous misquoting. i just ignore the magazine; when family had subscription we eventually got sick of its topics, reporting, etc. just a worthless rag with pretty pictures, just like Life magazine.

why don't you ignore CNN and other 24 hr. Cable News? they are worthless and uninformative. just scandalmongering is what they are. if you want to be pro-active you can write letters to CNN & Fox News advertisers and say you are not watching these channels anymore and will be ignoring their products as well. might make you feel better.

12. Well, I don't know who their advertisers are since I don't watch
any of them, but since I'm poor anyway, I don't buy much unnecessary crap. However, I am thinking of subscribing to the Nation. I think they are far more liberal than Time or Newsweek because no corporation owns them. Anyway Katerina Vanden Heuvel is one of their editors and Gore Vidal is a regular contributer so they are my news magazine for the future. Try them on line. I think you will like them.

13. Read a bit of the Nation, they are fun.
heh, most of the stuff on those cable news channels are out of most people's leagues. i mean, who of us is going to buy a deep ocean drilling rig? but i've seen those commercials all the time on those channels before. kinda like Kingdom Holding Company and their ads that one time. :D nah, there isn't much they offer that most regular people can buy.

the Nation seems pretty reasonably priced for a subscription and their articles are quite informative (i love how they mention their sources, so much more scholastic than those other boring rags). i'll have to try them online sometime. i also enjoy mother jones, another solid magazine with good reporting.

11. CNN is no longer on my viewing and I haven't read Time
in a long while either. So no problem here.
