someone hold me please!!!
I got an e-mail from my brother and it said "Have you seen these on television ?????

Subject: Fw: Shocking Pictures from Iraq...too gross for ABC, CBS AND CNN???

Pictures >From Iraq That Are Too Shocking & Graphic for The Mainstream Media"

As I was downloading it I was thinking to myself about how enlightened he has become and feeling concern over what I was about to see. Anyway, once it opened there were several pictures of happy Iraqi's posing with soldiers and one kid holding a sigh saying "we love you george bush". and ended with the following message ...

If you feel it is appropriate, I would suggest that you forward this on to your friends. We need folks to know that it is not all bad news over there. It is only bad news where the insurgency wants to focus the media’s attention. They, both the insurgency and the media, certainly don’t want us to think that there is any good being done over there.

Anyway, my brother is a nice guy. He actually raised me and because of him I'm an Al Franken liberal. Before he went to Vietnam his goal was to be a small town doc, getting paid in apples, chickens, money sometimes. He came back so different. I feel that Vietnam killed my brother and left me with this guy.

Anyway, if you read this, thank you for listening. I'm so sad lately.

4. Hugs, Hugs, Hugs
I am so sorry to hear what has happened to your brother. It happened to my cousin when he came back from a second tour of duty in Viet Nam. The first time, he was all for going back to help the people. The second time, he was really, really angry at the U. S. government. Also lost a beloved ex-sister-in-law and husband to the "dark side" who were doing very well financially and fell in love with guns, became what I call "Born Again Republicans" with all the zeal that the phrase implies and spewing the Second Amendment at me but only the first part about the right to bear arms. That sentence continues "in a well regulated militia." Neither of them has been in any branch of the armed forces. Since she was visiting me in my home, I told her that screaming such things at me in my own home was unacceptable and invited her to leave immediately. We're still communicating about other things but I will never feel the same about her.

5. Hi
Wish I were articulate enough to offer something real. I can understand your feelings. It is very disheartening when you can't communicate or relate with someone you love about matters that are important to you. That has been my relation with most all of my family. We can talk about 'safe' things--but nothing of any importance to ME--because they are all born agains and republicans. I don't want to argue with them (I have in the past but don't even bother any more) but I find it very difficult to just 'bite my tongue' all the time. I find it very uncomfortable and emotionally disturbing so I just basically stay away from them. Not the best solution.

In your case I can see how it would be even more difficult. You love your brother. Have you told him that you find this kind of thing 'hurtful' (or whatever would be the correct word for how you feel about it). I doubt that he is doing it intentionally to hurt you and it might never occur to him that you feel the way you do about it. I don't know.

The only thing I know is that love is more important than our disagreements and is the thing we all should be focusing more energy and attention on. If we did that a lot of the worlds problems could be solved.

6. It's like a child abuser beating up his kid then taking him out for
ice cream.

"See? I'm a good dad! I'm good! We're having a moment!"

One cute sign doesn't unkill 100,000 innocent people.

7. BTW, sorry about your brother.
My family is rightwing too.

We agree not to bring up politics, ever.

It sort of works.

Hugs to you.
