ADM donates 135 tons of high-protein meal; opens 'line of credit'
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 08:10 PM by Cuban_Liberal
We live close to Decatur IL, where Archer Daniels Midland is headquartered, and our local news just had this story. I'll summarize/paraphrase:

ADM has donated 135 tons of high-protein, soybean-based meal to relief efforts in the nations affected by the 12/26 tsunami; the supplies have already been disatched to the region from ADM stocks on hand in other parts of Asia. In addition, ADM has created 'open lines of credit' for all nations affected by the disaster, to be used for the purchase of food and other products needed for relief and recovery.

No link to the story yet.

3. protein is good
I'd say long-lasting protein sources would be a good thing for disaster affected regions.

However, I don't understand what 'open lines of credit' means for these nations. Will they have to pay for the food down the line?

5. Probably.

The open line of credit simply means that they can get what they need right no w/o paying up front. I'm certain that some payment wil be expected and made, once details of disaster-relief funding are established.

6. Which amino acid will they leave out? Requiring $10^9
of a supplement whose global market they control?

If you liked Halliburton, you'll love ADM.

I know there's nothing altruistic in what they did, but it's still a good thing.

8. If it's a nice thing to do, what's up with the 'Citibank' bullshit?
Okay, the donating part is very humanitarian, very Christian.

But line of Credit? Sorry. Only Satan's henchmen would dare be so despicable.

And what better way to give the tinfoilhatters more footing into their belief that this tsunami was by design rather than accident by attempting to profit off of a person's utter demise?

9. There's this to consider, however...
Someone is going to have to make the food those folks need right now, and ADM is certainly one of those most capable of doing so. Sometimes you have to make a deal with the devil...

11. Love those GMOs
Mmmmmmm soybean meal, with just a hint of Roundup for flavor. (BTW, how the hell does one prepare soybean based meal? Isn't that primarily a feed addetive for livestock or can this stuff be formed into veggie patties or something?)

12. I'm not 100% sure, but...
... I *think* it's the gruel-looking stuff you see relief workers scooping out of large pots.

14. Then again, animal feed may be needed too
With saltwater flooding, there may be a lot of fields dying off, and it's probably better to keep livestock that survived alive rather than be forced to slaughter them now.

15. Probably GMO shit
ADM having 'open lines of credit' for all nations affected by the disaster?' That's how they gain more control in those countries. ADM won't be doing anything that doesn't enrich ADM in the long or short run.

Question Authority. Subvert the Dominant Paradigm.
