1. A black person, or a hispanic.
Because I think too many people see a woman who stands her ground and is aggressive and get turned off. Probably not everyone, but enough that it would make it difficult for a woman to win. It's unfortunate and it's unfair but I think the deck is stacked.

A black person, probably because Obama's on the stage. :)

3. I am 52 and can confidently say
"not in my lifetime" to all of the above. Neither party has the will to step outside the white male box.

4. Hispanic, male...
We are going to be the majority population of the US in a couple of decades, its only reasonable to assume that we will eventually elect one of our own as president.

6. The the Democrat Party must have totally screwed up...
not that it hasnt already but if the Democrat party loses the majority of the Hispanic vote to Republicans, then thats all she wrote for the party.

8. It seems like we can't grab our asses with both hands these days,
so we better get our act together to prevent that from happening. We can't act like we haver any sort of "base." We need to work for every vote we're going to get.

13. You're gonna hate me for this
A woman republican.

Think Maggie Thatcher here in England. The British Tory party gave us the first Jewish P.M. (Disraeli, he was ethnically Jewish, but a member of the Church of England), the first batchelor P.M. (Edward Heath), the first woman P.M. (Thatcher), the first Roman Catholic party leader (Iain Duncan Smith, never became P.M. and they chucked him out, it's a big issue as the P.M. appoints Church of England Bishops), and the first religious Jewish leader (Michael Howard, current leader, unlikely to make P.M. either).

The republicans don't have a problem with women who agree with them (the Freepers are slobering over Condi Rice as Secretary of State), and will find it easy to attack a Democrat woman as a 'femnazi' (or whatever other charming term they develop).
