White House doesn't take "substantive" questions on Fridays

Press Gaggle: Style Over Substance

Scott McClellan knocks off early:
Q. Is the President having difficulty finding successors for Bernie Kerik, and also the National -- the Intelligence Director?

SCOTT McCLELLAN: Do you want me to put your name in?

Q. No thanks. (Laughter.)

MR. McCLELLAN: No, we're continuing to move forward on both those positions. The President has not made any final decisions that are ready to be announced at this point, but we will keep you posted.

Q. Can I ask one more substantive question, before we get to that?

MR. McCLELLAN: No, no substantive questions today. It's Friday.

Q. Or any other day, right? (Laughter.)

3. Oops, tipped his hand
They WANT you to believe that nothing ever happens on Fridays - That's when they release the most damaging news and press releases.

4. Press conferences are frequently like that
Theyre an information session for the press. Its frequent that there is smart ass bantor. All White Houses do it, and all White Houses have reasons for not giving out certain info - especially regarding names of possible nominations. Its not like we WONT find out who they nominate.

7. its a funny and ironic occurance
Due to the fact that substantative answers never come out of this white house

But nitpicking about Scotty saying this and how it indicates a wider viel of secrecy is kinda far reaching

8. no it's not - I don't think poster #1 indicated that

10. The press should be grateful they get an audience with
one of Bush's minions, nevermind receiving any answers for their questions. - The White House View
