Rather - unfair- loses job/swift boat liars-fair allowed air time
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 01:40 PM by rainy
I was so pissed when I heard about the report from CBS. The report claimed that Rather's report was unfair. Many at the top are losing their jobs. This makes me sick in light of the fact that many others on the air say things about predominant democrats and nothing ever is done. For example, swift boat liars were given air time and many forums to spew their lies. None of their lies could be verified. How about the doctor who said he treated Kerry but never signed the medial forms? Fox and all of the false statements about wars, Kerry, Clinton, the hunting of Clinton and the media giving air time for all of the Clinton accusations without any evidence. This is far over the limit of fair and balanced and is now blatant bias for the corporate party.
We now know our enemy and it is the media.

1. and it doesn't change the facts
Our great pretzeldent DID NOT SERVE.

And the remaining idiots at CBS are apparently still not doing their job with journalistic integrity or else they would do a follow up to the story to assess what the actual facts are.

Pathetic. I haven't watched them since they refused to air the gay church advertisement last November, and I don't miss it at all.

3. I have YET to hear that the STORY was false - I hope
they keep bringing it up. Noone ever accused the SWL of lying - yet they did.

This is going to work FOR us in the long run.

4. The report came out today and it was said that Rather was
too egar to be the first with the story so he failed to do the homework. It said it was not politically motivated. Two high up execs lost their jobs. Rather is retiring. I heard this on MSMBC this morning. No one is reporting on the story, just the false documents used in the story. The media fail to mention that a group has offered lots of money for anyone who can prove Bush served in Alabama. The are missing the whole story.

5. 4 people got fired today - I've had the TV on
and NOONE has said the STORY is false. The longer this goes on, the more people will question why the word FALSE has not shown up.

I fell asleep with MSNBC on to wake up to Scarbaugh being interviewed. What an ugly little murderer he is!

14. That's gonna be a pretty L O N G long run
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 06:14 PM by SoCalDem
The "story" was "out there" in 99...hell it's been "out there" since 1974, but out of deference to the politics of the father, at the time, and then the "governor", and then the "presidential candidate", and then the "president", it went NO WHERE...and it's GOING no where..

A third of the current voting, adult population knows it's true, but cannot prove it. "That's the Facts"...and there is little we can do about it.

We have no control of the media, we cannot shape opinion..

One third believes it
One third does NOT
One third wants fries with their Big Mac.

The "history" books are being written now, and unless things change in a big way...and soon...Prince *² will be awarded 15 purple hearts for every mosquito bite he "suffered" while liberating Viet Nam as an undercover agent for the CIA:)

8. The Orwellian Standard of Totalitarianian Nations
ALL Totalitarian Nations, be they soft as Imperial Amerika is now with one foot in the Old Democratic-Republci and the other leaping forward to Lying Enslaved Tyranny or hardened and fully tranformed like Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union or Ferdinand Marcos' Phillipines.

Let me state it simply:

THE PARTY (Nazi, Soviet, Marcosian, Bushevik, etc.) may lie and fabricate and misdirect AT WILL about the "Enemies of the State".

Conversely, Enemies of the State (those not in THE PARTY) are not permitted even to tell inconvenient truths about THE PARTY.

Hey, at least Gunga Dan and his staff weren't Gulagged or murdered.

Progress, eh?

9. Perfect summary
Inconvenient truths, indeed. Did they ever prove anything in Moore's documentary was false? IT was just he dared to show it!

But Gonzalez can sit there and say and so can Chimpass, "Oh no I don't believe in torture, oh no, not I.".

It's not the worthless words of their mouths-it's their actions.

The Bush cabal and their loyal lapdogs-can literally lie (even if it's only by omission..imagine if that torture memo was destroyed) with every breath they speak.

10. The democratic party is, in a BIG way partly responsible
For THIRTY PLUS years, they watched the repubes building their media empire...and they did nothing (except help them do it)

It's not going to stop here either.

It's brutally simple.

If you control the media, you also control the message. The repubes control the media, they control the message, and thanks to election shenanigans, they also control the METHOD and MEANS to continue the same scheme.

There are a few outlets who buck the system every now and then, and without the bulk of the media in their corner, they are like a lone lookout, standing up in a firefight. They WILL be taken down.

During the years and years of democratic domination in congress, they got sloppy, lazy and stupid. They gave the keys to a drunk, and now they are passengers while the drunk's doing the driving.. Nothing mysterious here folks, we are 30 years behind the curve..and we are no longer in a position to "correct" the mess we are faced with..

Goodness knows what other "fun stuff" they have in mind for us.:puke:

11. If Rather was so eager to have the story first...
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 05:24 PM by gatorboy
Does that mean there were other news organizations that were also interested in the story that have kept quiet since??

12. remember the main difference between CBS and Faux News
CBS is interested in maintaining at least an image of neutrality. Anything that makes them look biased to the left damages them, and they will act accordingly to try to look moderate.

Meanwhile, Faux News is blatently conservative, and it doesn't care who knows it.

in maintaining at least an image of neutrality? Andrew Heyward, CBS news president, recently went to the White House "to repair chilly relations with the Bush administration". www.broadcastingcable.com/CA490493.html :puke:

The networks, Faux, it's all part of one big wing nut propaganda machine churning out bullshit 24/7. Thank God for oases of sanity like Air America.
