"The Coronation" may not have enough money!
Yup, according to MSNBC's Gossip, the Repubs haven't reached the 40M goal yet and they are putting the squeeze on corporations.

George W. Bush is planning to have a snazzy $40 million inauguration — but according to a story in Roll Call, his people are having trouble raising the cash. “Three lobbyists confirmed in interviews that senior inaugural fundraisers last week called Republican lobbyists and asked them to encourage potential corporate sponsors to buy ticket packages to inaugural events,” according to the article. Inauguration officials insist there’s no money-raising woes, but one anonymous Republican lobbyist told reporter Tory Newmyer, “They just said they hadn’t met their targets yet, and they were redoubling their efforts to raise money, encouraging people to buy packages.”

1. And they are expecting the city to pick up the security tab.
And to take it out of the Homeland Security funds at that!

What an abomination.

8. Here's the thing about DC
</monica-geller>

They only have one Rep, Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-Of Course), and she's a nonvoting rep, like those from Puerto Rico, Guam, etc. Hence the new DC license plates that read "Taxation Without Representation".

4. Meh.
Great, now, just maybe, he'll feel how the rest of us Americans feel when we have to work 40 hour weeks just to "scrape by".

Tell him to do something for the working class instead of the corporations and then maybe I'll shed a few tears for him.

Don't worry though, I'm sure he'll just take a little more from the troops to fund his parties. Maybe he can just dip in to that $87 billion Iraq War support resolution - I mean, it's not like he's used it for, <gasp>, the "war".

7. I noticed this week only up to 19 million
and according to NY math, that is only 1/2 of what they need. Do you think they are sticking D.C. with security costs because they don't have enough money???

HEHEHEHEHEHEHHEEHHEEE!!!
