Clooney, O'Reilly spar over tsunami telethon

Monday, January 10, 2005 Posted: 10:47 PM EST (0347 GMT)

(CNN) -- Three years after they jousted over a celebrity telethon that raised millions for 9/11 victims, Fox News' Bill O'Reilly and actor George Clooney are at it again, this time over what will happen to funds pledged in a telethon for tsunami victims.

In a letter sent by e-mail Monday, Clooney lashed out at the host of "The O'Reilly Factor," saying comments he made last week on his program will lead to lower contributions in Saturday's celebrity-driven telethon.

The caustic message from Clooney also challenges O'Reilly to serve as a presenter in the event.

"This is your chance to put your considerable money where your considerable mouth is," Clooney writes in the note sarcastically signed "Your fan."

2. I like this Clooney fella.
He's right. O'Reily don't care about the tsunami victims. He just wants to bad mouth the celebrities and liberals. Asswipe.

7. Yup. He made a big deal about the 9/11
money not going to the Red Cross. I guess his fact checker missed that the 9/11 telethon was to benefit United Way.:eyes:

4. It is very hard to get into a public war of words with a talk show host
Why? Because the talk show host has the microphone every day. They see too it that they always get the last word. And they can yammer on and on about it for three hours every day. The person on the other side usually does not get quite that level of exposure.

"But Clooney wrote in his note, "it was not the Red Cross but the United Way that sponsored that telethon... an easy mistake to make... if you're 3."

18. Clooney told me a joke and brushed my elbow during the filming of
"O, Brother Where Art Thou?" (I was an extra lucky enough to be positioned close to him). He was an extraordinarily nice guy who was always polite oto the extras who asked for pictures/autographs (even after the director told them not to).

He is one extremely cool guy.

26. He was extremely sexy....John Turturo was pretty impressive too
It was the scene wher his daughters performed the song "In the Hedges..." and later when daddy talked to them, they told him he wasn't "bona fide" and the mama said a train hit him and "all that was left was a greasy spot!"

It was probably the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on.
