4. A farce indeed. BTW, Howard Zinn is on now!
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 09:11 AM by proudbluestater
I haven't been able to locate the link, I think the story was not posted on the internet. In Sunday's Detroit New/Free Press they carried an article about the polling places set up around the Detroit Metro area. Found a link for it!

Chaldeans are especially concerned about access to polling places in southeastern Michigan. The four polling sites are not distributed in a way that matches the population, they say.

Chaldeans, who are Christians, say they number about 120,000 in Metro Detroit -- mostly in northern suburbs, including Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield. They say the closest polling places will be in Southfield and Sterling Heights.

Other Iraqis and Iraqi-Americans in the area number only about 15,000, and they live mostly in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. Despite the significantly smaller numbers, those Iraqis -- mostly Shi'a Muslims -- will be near two polling places, both in Dearborn, Chaldean leaders say.

"Somebody really messed this up," said Martin Manna, executive director of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce. "They also are not doing enough outreach on the local level so that people will know how to participate, or even whether they are eligible."

11. Irate caller just doesn't get it
Insisting we aren't an imperial power because we didn't increase our territory.

I'm sure Zinn will hand him his ass. It's not about land. It's about power and control. We don't want the responsibility for territories. We just want to put our people in place to control their governments and open it up for corporate control of resources.

Oh yeah.
THAT'S the American way.
To that guy the government=America.
Zinn did a nice job of "explaining" what America is.

16. Scumbag host technique: taking 2 calls sequentially
Lefty first, then freeper.

1. Audience more likely to remember last (most recent) call. Lessens the impact of Lefty caller's points.

2. Host "cherry picks" among the 4-5 points across both calls for Zinn to amplify/respond to. Mostly picks freeper talking points.

Fucking FUCKER.

when addressing the rougher questions. Who wants softballs?

Bryan Lamb is cool. But he just called Howard Zinn, "Howard Stern".

"Next caller for Howard Stern, line one."

Honestly, where are we?

Ever get the feeling that nothing will ever work? I know I can't shake that thought. Just flying by the seat of our collective pants on this planet, making it up as we go along. Just twirling around the sun, not really going anywhere. No destination somewhere in the distance.

George Carlin is right. Humanity is a freak show, and we in the US have a front row seat.

Howard Zinn offends all who live in a rightwing, fantasyland view of U.S. history.
