"Iron Jawed Angels" Have you seen it?
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 11:16 AM by NVMojo
I just caught it on HBO and realized that it was a movie that didn't come to my local theater (that ain't saying much for this red-necked town) and that I saw about 8 copies of it on the shelf at Blockbuster like two weeks before the election ...walked up to check one out and the pimply kid behind the counter said I couldn't have it cuz it wasn't ready for distribution and some other employee screwed up and put the copies of "Iron Jawed Angels" out by accident.

I didn't really know what the movie was about until today. I must go back to see if they ever put it out. I haven't seen it there, in my memory since that one day.

Did it ever come to a friendly theater near you? Or was it pulled from rental distribution due to the election from more than just my neighborhood Blockbuster?

edited to add: I did like it and it got me all fired up ...

3. Thanks, but I wonder why they pulled it until well after the election?
I don't know if it is at Blockbuster yet. I am going to check as soon as they open. I haven't seen it there since October.

And I agree, it should be required for all women and men to watch it.

6. Movies have a set release date
That is probably why they pulled it off the shelves. If you break that street date set by the studio, you (the business that breaks the date) can be fined up to $5,000 per incident and it will effect the status of your deliveries from that studio in the future.

Once one major business breaks the street date it gives the right for all other stores to place the item out for sale/rent. It really messes up the advertising schedule of major releases as well.

I'm sure it wasn't a political statement, just an economic one for the business.

Don't know why they would have pulled that off the selves in October then ... maybe it WAS political after all?

7. I stayed up way too late to see it again the other night too.
I have seen it several times and it brings me to tears and lights me up at the same time. It is a great film. It reminds us that we must never give up.

It is an excellent movie. It was an HBO exclusive so it was never in theaters. I cried and cried and cried all over again. God, what wonderful women!

14. I just saw it today
and it is a terrific film. Too bad for it that it got released the same year as Angels in America. Otherwise it may have won some emmys.

19. The producer of that movie is rather amazing. Her mother was a blacklisted
during the McCarthy era and fled to england, where she gained an amazing professional reputation for employing other blacklisted hollywood pros. (Hannah Weinstein)

She's nominated tonight, but odds are on that Sellers movie for sentimental reasons.
