as I recall, many at DU claimed it had the best and most up-to-the-minute info as US was zooming toward Baghdad

3. The guy who was feeding the site info got arrested.

Seems he was sending out raw intel gathered from Iraq by Russian diplomatic sources. In other words, hearsay from Iraq on the ground (which was inherently unreliable but even if it contained some of the truth, it was more truth than the US was allowing for) that was being stolen from the Russian intelligence services and distributed to the public. So they shut that down for good. US-Russian relations were bad enough as it was.
